Retroperitoneoscopic Simple Nondismembered Pyeloplasty with Da Vinci Si Assistance to Prevent Alignment Shift
Conclusion: Both SNDP and DP have favorable outcomes. If the UPJ is located at the lowest end of the renal pelvis, SNDP may improve hydronephrosis more quickly.PMID:38502848 | DOI:10.1089/lap.2023.0236 (Source: Adv Data)

Transcatheter renal arterial embolization for intractable urinary fistula occurring after robot-assisted partial nephrectomy: a case report
AbstractPartial nephrectomy is the standard surgical procedure for small renal tumors. Since the advent of robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN), the number of cases of renal tumors undergoing the procedure has increased exponentially. Urinary fistula is a complication of partial nephrectomy. Conservative management using ureteral stents is useful in most cases of urinary fistulas. However, some patients develop intractable urinary fistulas. Herein, we report a case in which vascular embolization was useful for treating an infected and intractable urinary fistula that developed after RAPN. A 59-year-old man was acciden...

Robotic Flexible Ureteroscopy: A Step-by-step Video by Using Roboflex AvicennaTM Platform
The management of kidney stones, particularly those in the renal pelvis, is a critical aspect of urology. The European Association of Urology guidelines recommend Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy or Endourology methods, encompassing Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy and Ureterorenoscopy (URS), for stones ranging from 10-20 mm. Robotic-assisted urological procedures have gained prominence in recent years, promising enhanced precision, and safety. (Source: Urology)

Editorial comment on: “Clinical Efficacy Evaluation of a Novel Negative Pressure Ureteroscopic Lithotripsy for Ureteral Stones”
There have been numerous advances in the treatment of nephrolithiasis, including miniaturized instrumentation and new laser technology; however, the purpose of the procedure remains the same —to render the patient stone free. Recent publications re-emphasizes the need to render patients stone free with residual fragment size contributing to stone-related events for both percutaneous nephrolithotomy1 and ureteroscopy.2 Both the vacuum-assisted ureteral and percutaneous access sheaths a re now commonly used with advertised benefits of a reduction in stone retropulsion, shorter operating room times, and potentially reducing...

A reappraisal of the deep uterine vein: a multimodal exploration with implications for pelvic surgery
ConclusionA profound understanding of the subperitoneal space anatomy is paramount for pelvic surgeons to mitigate postoperative complications. The DUV ’s intricate neurovascular interplays underscore its significance as an indispensable surgical guide for safeguarding nerves and the ureter. (Source: Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy)

Can shear wave elastography predict the success of shock ‑wave lithotripsy used in renal stones treatment? A prospective study
ConclusionsMeasurement of stone density by shear wave elastography (SWE) can be used as an alternative to HU in decision-making before SWL. SWL success depends mainly on stone site, HU, and SWE values. (Source: World Journal of Urology)

Commentary to ''Decreased percent change in renal pelvis diameter on diuretic functional magnetic resonance urography following administration of furosemide may help characterize unilateral uretero-pelvic junction obstruction''
We read the article by Janssen et al entitled “Decreased percent change in renal pelvis diameter on diuretic functional magnetic resonance urography following administration of furosemide may help characterize unilateral uretero-pelvic junction obstruction” with great interest (1). Janssen et al. indicated that a relatively smaller change i n anterior-posterior renal pelvic diameter (APRPD) on functional magnetic resonance urography (fMRU) following administration of furosemide in ureteropelvic junction obstruction may be predictive for obstructed kidneys (1). WATTS happening? Evaluation of thermal dose during holmium laser lithotripsy in a high-fidelity anatomic model
ConclusionTemperature generation and thermal dose delivered are greatest closer to the tip of the laser fiber and are not dependent on power alone. Significant temperature differences were noted between four laser settings at a standardized power (40  W). Temperatures can be influenced by a variety of factors, such as laser-on time, operator duty cycle, and location in the PCS. (Source: World Journal of Urology)
