Nucleosides Nucleotides Nucleic Acids. 2024 May 2:1-23. doi: 10.1080/15257770.2024.2348741. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCondensation of 5-benzyl-3-hydrazino-1,2,4-triazino[5,6-b]indole with various sugar aldoses or ketoses gave the corresponding sugar hydrazones as single geometrical isomer or exist in E/Z tautomeric isomers. The hydrazones underwent heterocyclization with Fe(Ш)Cl3 to give the N2-adduct acyclo C-nucleosides: 3-(alditol-1yl)-10-benzyl-1,2,4-triazolo[4,3-b]1,2,4-triazino[5,6-b]indoles rather than the N4-adduct: 10-(alditol-1-yl)-3-benzyl-1,2,4-triazolo[3,4-c]1,2,4-triazino[5,6-b] indoles on the basis of c...

Study of Association of Chromosomal Region 1Q21-23 with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Their Correlation with Severity of Disease
CONCLUSION: Bigger cohort studies will allow better genomic elucidation of clinically defined intermediate phenotypes evaluated in RA patients by virtue of the autoimmune origin of the disease and its diverse symptoms in patients. Genetic-molecular studies can be a milestone for adopting effective personalized treatment for such progressively debilitating diseases. How to cite this article: Gauri LA, Meena MK, Singh U, et al. Glycemic Control and Mucormycosis during COVID-19 Pandemic in India a Study of Stage and Outcome
CONCLUSION: The study showed a positive correlation between the stage of mucormycosis and serum glycemic control markers at presentation. Clinicians must order blood sugar and HbA1c levels at presentation as cues for a better understanding of disease severity. A thorough clinical examination and history taking for patient risk factors predisposing to mucormycosis are also crucial since the presence of proptosis and coronary artery disease are significantly correlated with the mortality outcomes. The extent of poor glycemic control at presentation was not associated with mortality outcomes. How to cite this article: Sharma ...

Burn Wound Healing Abilities of a Uronic Acid Containing Exopolysaccharide Produced by the Marine Bacterium Halomonas malpeensis YU-PRIM-29( T)
In this study, a bacterial EPS (EPS-H29) from the marine bacterium Halomonas malpeensis YU-PRIM-29 T was used to treat the burn wound in vivo. The biochemical and structural characterizations of EPS-H29 were carried out using standard methods. In addition, FE-SEM, conformational, rheological, and HP-GPC analyses were carried out. In vitro biocompatibility of EPS-H29 was studied in human dermal fibroblasts (HDFs) and keratinocytes (HaCaT). Scratch assay was used to study the wound healing in vitro. For in vivo evaluation, burn wound (second-degree) was created on Wistar albino rats and treated with EPS-H29 along with approp...

Did a workplace sugar-sweetened beverage sales ban reduce anxiety-related SSB consumption during the COVID-19 pandemic?
CONCLUSIONS: SSB sales bans likely reduce SSB consumption through multiple pathways; buffering stress-related consumption may be one mechanism.PMID:38698591 | DOI:10.1017/S1368980024000995 (Source: Public Health Nutrition)

Isolation of four new monoterpenes from Ailanthus altissima (mill.) Swingle and their enzyme inhibitory effects
Fitoterapia. 2024 May 1:105984. doi: 10.1016/j.fitote.2024.105984. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA phytochemical study of the ethanol extract from Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle leaves resulted in the isolation of four new monoterpenoids (1-3, 5). The structures were elucidated using HRESIMS data, NMR spectroscopic data, quantum chemical calculations for NMR and ECD, and custom DP4+ probability analysis. Additionally, the absolute configuration of sugar was determined by acid hydrolysis. Compounds 1-4 are cyclogeraniane monocyclic monoterpenes, while compound 5 contains an acyclic mycrane monoterpenes skeleton. Anti-t...

Transcriptome analysis of apical meristem enriched bud samples for size dependent flowering commitment in Crocus sativus reveal role of sugar and auxin signalling
CONCLUSION: Transcripts belong to key pathways including phenylpropanoid biosynthesis, hormone signaling and carbon metabolism were found significantly modulated. KEGG assessment and protein-protein interaction analysis confirm the expression data. Findings unravel the genetic determinants driving the size dependent flowering in Crocus sativus.PMID:38700570 | DOI:10.1007/s11033-024-09574-7 (Source: Molecular Biology Reports)

Agricultural Waste Management by Production of Second-Generation Bioethanol from Sugarcane Bagasse Using Indigenous Yeast Strain
This study optimizes both fermentation process and pretreatment of sugarcane bagasse to maximize bioethanol yield and demonstrates the ability of isolated strain to effectively utilize xylose as a carbon source. The desirable characteristics depicted by strain Clavispora lusitaniae shows its promising utilization in management of industrial waste like sugarcane bagasse by its conversion into renewable biofuels like bioethanol.PMID:38700667 | DOI:10.1007/s00284-024-03668-y (Source: Current Microbiology)
