The quality and clinical translation of radiomics studies based on MRI for predicting Ki-67 levels in patients with breast cancer
CONCLUSION: Ki-67 index is a common tumor biomarker with high clinical value. Radiomics is an ever-growing quantitative data-mining method helping predict tumor biomarkers from medical images. However, the quality of the reviewed studies evaluated by the RQS was not so satisfactory and there are ample opportunities for improvement. Open science and data, external validation, phantom study, publicly open radiomics database and standardization in the radiomics practice are what researchers should pay more attention to in the future.ADVANCES IN KNOWLEDGE: The RQS tool considered the radiomics used to predict the Ki-67 level w...

Prelicensure Nursing Students' Attitudes Regarding Breastfeeding Education
Nurs Educ Perspect. 2023 Sep 19. doi: 10.1097/01.NEP.0000000000001191. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBreast milk feeding is vital to the health outcomes of the breastfeeding dyad. Nurses have a significant role to promote, educate, and support breastfeeding practices for breastfeeding dyads in diverse settings. Nurses should also promote breastfeeding awareness to normalize breastfeeding as the optimal food for infants. This pilot study investigated the effects of a basic breastfeeding educational module on the breastfeeding attitudes of prelicensure nursing students. There was a statistically significant change in attitud...

Incidence and Survival for Patients Diagnosed With Breast, Colorectal, and Lung Cancer in an Integrated System
Conclusions Incidence rates for all-stage and localized-stage BC were consistently higher for Kaiser Permanente than for SEER. CRC and LC rates were lower. Kaiser Permanente survival rates were consistently higher than for SEER. The strengths of these findings are associated with the ability to capture "gold-standard" cancer registry data on defined Kaiser Permanente populations. However, findings should be interpreted cautiously given differences in the underlying populations and secular and regional differences between Kaiser Permanente and SEER. The Kaiser Permanente population is younger and more racially diverse than ...

Platycodin D induces neutrophil apoptosis by downregulating PD-L1 expression to inhibit breast cancer pulmonary metastasis
In conclusion, the administration of PlaD inhibited the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway by reducing the expression of PD-L1 in neutrophils. PlaD promoted neutrophil apoptosis, thereby inhibiting the establishment of a premetastatic niche and ultimately blocking the development of pulmonary metastasis.PMID:37724959 | DOI:10.1016/j.intimp.2023.109733

Enantioselective De Novo Synthesis of α,α-Diaryl Ketones from Alkynes
Angew Chem Int Ed Engl. 2023 Sep 19:e202310078. doi: 10.1002/anie.202310078. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTChiral α,α-diaryl ketones are structural motifs commonly present in bioactive molecules, and they are also valuable building blocks in synthetic organic chemistry. However, catalytic asymmetric synthesis of α,α-diaryl ketones bearing a tertiary stereogenic center remains largely unsolved. Herein, we report a catalytic de novo enantioselective synthesis of α,α-diaryl ketones from simple alkynes via chiral phosphoric acid (CPA) catalysis. A broad range of enolizable α,α-diaryl ketones are prepared in good yields...

The Prognostic Significance of P16 Immunohistochemical Expression Pattern in Women with Invasive Ductal Breast Carcinoma
CONCLUSIONS: Our study demonstrated that p16 protein expression increased in ER-positive tumor tissue from patients with invasive ductal breast carcinoma. However, no correlation was found between the p16 protein expression and the other clinicopathological features.PMID:37724141 | PMC:PMC10505467 | DOI:10.52547/rbmb.12.1.83
