Renal AA amyloidosis revealing extramedullary plasmocytoma
CONCLUSION: Extramedullary plasmacytoma is a rare tumour that may be associated with amyloidosis, usually type AL. To our knowledge, its association with AA amyloidosis has not been reported in the literature. Treatment is based on surgery combined with radiotherapy or chemotherapy.PMID:38073243 | DOI:10.1684/ndt.2023.54 (Source: Nephrologie and Therapeutique)

Management and Outcomes of Patients with Refractory Solitary Plasmacytoma after Treatment with Definitive Radiation Therapy
CONCLUSIONS: Patients with RT-refractory SPs can achieve good local control with alternative therapies such as surgery or systemic therapy if needed. Additional RT dose not seem to be effective. Given the known high rates of progression from SP to multiple myeloma, close observation of asymptomatic persistent disease until disease progression is likely sufficient in most cases.PMID:38070713 | DOI:10.1016/j.ijrobp.2023.11.039 (Source: Cancer Control)

Prevalence and interpretation of AFF immunostain of DEK::AFF2 fusion-associated papillary squamous cell carcinoma in a retrospective cohort of recurrent sinonasal papillomas
In this study, AFF immunohistochemistry (IHC) was performed in recurrent sinonasal papillomas for reviewing the prevalence of undiagnosedDEK::AFF2 carcinomas and to investigate the performance of AFF IHC in diagnosis ofDEK::AFF2 carcinomas. Recurrent sinonasal papillomas after surgical excision in a two-decade period were retrieved. Histologic slides were reviewed for features ofDEK::AFF2 carcinoma. AFF IHC was performed, and cases with any (>  1%) nuclear positivity were validated byDEK break apart fluorescence in situ hybridization. Totally 43 cases were included, comprising 28 inverted, 6 exophytic, one oncocytic, ...

Exploring the lncRNA-VEGF axis: Implications for cancer detection and therapy
Pathol Res Pract. 2023 Nov 29;253:154998. doi: 10.1016/j.prp.2023.154998. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCancer is a complicated illness that spreads indefinitely owing to epigenetic, genetic, and genomic alterations. Cancer cell multidrug susceptibility represents a severe barrier in cancer therapy. As a result, creating effective therapies requires a better knowledge of the mechanisms driving cancer development, progress, and resistance to medications. The human genome is predominantly made up of long non coding RNAs (lncRNAs), which are currently identified as critical moderators in a variety of biological functions. Rec...

GSE235606 Long non-coding RNA PVT1 is overexpressed in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma and exon 2 is critical for its oncogenicity
ConclusionsOur study reveals a previously unrecognized role for exon 2 of PVT1 in its oncogenic role and that PVT1 suppresses cellular senescence. PVT1 may be a biomarker and therapeutic target in cSCC. (Source: GEO: Gene Expression Omnibus)

A prognostic nomogram and risk classification system of elderly patients with extraosseous plasmacytoma: a SEER database analysis
ConclusionsWe developed a nomogram and risk classification system, which can serve as an intuitive and effective tool for clinicians to enhance the prediction of OS in elderly EOP patients, thereby facilitating the formulation of more rational and personalized treatment strategies. Analysis of the clinical efficacy of laparoscopic middle pancreatectomy in the treatment of benign or low-grade malignant tumors of the pancreas
ConclusionLaparoscopic middle pancreatectomy is safe and feasible in the treatment of benign or low-grade malignant tumors in the body of the pancreatic neck and is not accompanied by increased risk of intraoperative and postoperative complications and endocrine dysfunction of the pancreas. Plasmacytoma: A Rare Oral Complication of Multiple Myeloma
Plasmacytomas are unifocal, monoclonal neoplastic plasma cell proliferations which can occur independently but are more commonly associated with myelomas. Most often, these lesions present as solitary lesions of bone and rarely as solitary or multiple soft tissue nodules of the head and neck, with similar appearance to pyogenic granuloma. Long noncoding RNA PVT1 predicts poor prognosis and promotes the progression of colorectal cancer through the miR-24-3p/NRP1 axis in zebrafish xenografts
Neoplasma. 2023 Aug;70(4):500-513. doi: 10.4149/neo_2023_221208N1169.ABSTRACTLong noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play important roles in the progression of human cancer. It is reported that lncRNA plasmacytoma variant translocation 1 (PVT1) is involved in colorectal cancer (CRC), however, the underlying mechanism remains to be explored deeply, especially by in vivo models. In the present study, bioinformatics analysis showed that the expression level of PVT1 was upregulated in CRC tissues and highly associated with poor prognosis of CRC patients. In cultured CRC cells, knockdown of PVT1 inhibited cell proliferation and migration...
