Solitary Extraosseous Plasmacytoma of Submandibular Gland – Report of a Rare Case
Conclusions: Extraosseous plasmacytoma of the submandibular region is very rare but radiosensitive tumor. Multiple myeloma must be ruled out prior to start of any treatment. Long term follow ups are required to comment on disease progression, dissemination, or recurrence. (Source: Indian Journal of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery)

LncRNA PVT1 as a novel biomarker for diabetes-related complications
CONCLUSION: PVT1 regulates the occurrence and progression of diabetes-related diseases. Collectively, PVT1 has the potential to be a useful diagnostic and therapeutic target for diabetes and its consequences.PMID:36809958 | DOI:10.2174/0929867330666230210103447 (Source: Current Medicinal Chemistry)

Multiple myeloma with plasmacytoma of the clivus bone presenting with multiple cranial nerve III, IV, and VI palsy: A diagnostic dilemma
AbstractCentral nervous system (CNS) manifestation with cranial nerve palsy in multiple myeloma (MM) is a rare manifestation. Plasmacytoma originates from the bones of the skull base in 3% patients with MM but rarely develops from the soft tissues of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses. Here, we present a case of 68-year-old male patient with multiple myeloma, clivus bone plasmacytoma, and cavernous sinus syndrome. (Source: Clinical Case Reports)

PVT1/miR-16/CCND1 axis regulates gastric cancer progression
In conclusion, PVT1 promoted CCND1 expression by negatively regulating miR-16 expression to enhance the viability, invasion and cell cycle progression of GC cells.PMID:36760720 | PMC:PMC9896163 | DOI:10.1515/med-2022-0550 (Source: Cancer Control)

High prevalence of Wilms tumor 1 expression in multiple myeloma and plasmacytoma: A cohort of 142 Asian patients' samples
This study confirms the high prevalence of WT1 expression in an Asian cohort of MM, encouraging the development of immunotherapy targeting WT1 in MM patients, particularly in those with extramedullary plasmacytoma or relapsed disease.PMID:36760714 | PMC:PMC9902379 | DOI:10.3389/pore.2023.1610844 (Source: Pathology Oncology Research)

Extramedullary relapse of Immunoglobulin A-kappa myeloma manifesting as plasmacytoma of the pleura without bone marrow involvement and following autologous bone marrow transplant: a case report
ConclusionPhysicians should be aware of various presentations of multiple myeloma relapse, especially in autologous stem cell transplantation patients. Atypical and unique presentations such as the pleural involvement warrant further reporting of evidence to provide early management and treatment options. (Source: Journal of Medical Case Reports)

Rare Pattern of Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) with Serum Monoclonal Immunoglobulin: Case Report
CONCLUSION: The combination of plasma cell disease and myeloid malignancy may increase mortality. This is uncommon and may be easily misdiagnosed if not detected early. When a myeloid neoplasm tests positive for MDS and serum M protein, clinicians should evaluate for other plasma cell disease.PMID:36735715 (Source: Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine)

Isolated relapse of plasma cell leukemia in the central nervous systems: a case report and literature review
Int J Hematol. 2023 Feb 3. doi: 10.1007/s12185-023-03545-7. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPlasma cell leukemia is a rare yet aggressive form of multiple myeloma characterized by high levels of plasma cells circulating in the peripheral blood. We recently experienced a case of plasma cell leukemia that had been in stringent complete remission for nine years after autologous stem cell transplantations with subsequent courses of lenalidomide maintenance therapy, and then relapsed as an extramedullary plasmacytoma in the central nervous system. Assessment of the bone marrow did not prove proliferation of plasma cells at relaps...
