Skeletal muscle extramedullary plasmacytoma transformed into plasmablastic plasmacytoma: a  case report
ConclusionThe transformation of EMP into plasmablastic plasmacytoma is very rare, and its diagnosis and treatment require the participation of both experienced pathologists and clinicians. We report this case in order to raise clinicians' awareness of the diagnosis and treatment of EMP and its transformation to plasmablastic plasmacytoma, and to avoid misdiagnosis and underdiagnosis. PVT1 promotes proliferation and macrophage immunosuppressive polarization through STAT1 and CX3CL1 regulation in glioblastoma multiforme
CONCLUSION: PVT1 plays a significant role in GBM, correlating with poor prognosis, promoting cell growth, and shaping an immunosuppressive TME via STAT1 and CX3CL1 regulation. Targeting PVT1 may hold therapeutic promise for GBM patients.PMID:38287522 | PMC:PMC10805395 | DOI:10.1111/cns.14566 (Source: CNS Neuroscience and Therapeutics)

Recent Approaches on Molecular Markers, Treatment and Novel Drug Delivery System Used for the Management of Colorectal Cancer: A Comprehensive Review
Curr Pharm Biotechnol. 2024 Jan 24. doi: 10.2174/0113892010270975231208113157. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTColorectal cancer affects 1 in 25 females and 1 in 24 males, making it the third most frequent cancer with over 6,08,030 deaths worldwide, despite advancements in detection and treatments, including surgery, chemotherapeutics, radiotherapy, and immune therapeutics. Novel potential agents have increased survival in acute and chronic disease conditions, with a higher risk of side effects and cost. However, metastatic disease has an insignificant long-term diagnosis, and significant challenges remain due to last-stage ...

Acute suppression of translation by hyperthermia enhances anti-myeloma activity of carfilzomib
Int J Hematol. 2024 Jan 22. doi: 10.1007/s12185-023-03706-8. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHyperthermia is a unique treatment option for cancers. Multiple myeloma (MM) remains incurable and innovative therapeutic options are needed. We investigated the efficacy of hyperthermia and carfilzomib in combination against MM cells. Although MM cell lines exhibited different susceptibilities to pulsatile carfilzomib treatment, mild hyperthermia at 43℃ induced MM cell death in all cell lines in a time-dependent manner. Hyperthermia and carfilzomib cooperatively induced MM cell death even under suboptimal conditions. The pro-survi...

Myopericytoma of the mouth floor: The diagnostic and therapeutic challenge —A case report and literature review
AbstractMyopericytoma is defined as a rare benign myxoid tumour that is usually found in distal extremities. However, it may rarely affect the oral cavity. Few cases of oral myopericytoma were reported in the literature. A 56-year-old female patient presented with a mouth floor lesion. A wedge biopsy performed from the lesion revealed an atypical round cell proliferation, which may be plasmablastic lymphoma or plasmacytoma. Post-contrast neck MRI described a well-defined lobulated lesion at the right sublingual region measuring 14  × 21 mm. Transoral wide local excision of the ulcer was performed, and reconstruction...

Giant Ulcer with Necrosis on Right Vulva, Groin, and Thigh-- A Case of Necrotizing Fasciitis Associated with Erythematous Pemphigus
We report a case of a 72-year female with erythematous pemphigus who developed erythema, swelling and ulceration on right vulva, groin, and thigh. The early clinical manifestations of the patient were nonspecific and easily misdiagnosed as cellulitis. However, upon the occurrence of ulceration and necrosis, deep fungal infection, pyoderma gangrenosum or lymphoproliferative disorders were considered. The pathology suggested IgG4-related diseases, plasmacytoma et al. But at last, surgical exploration and postoperative pathology confirmed the diagnosis of necrotizing fasciitis. The patient recovered after multiple aggressive ...

Extramedullary Plasmacytoma of the Larynx
Extramedullary plasmacytoma is a rare tumor of plasma cells that arises outside of the bone marrow. These tumors occur in the head and neck in approximately 80% of cases,1 and are more common in men than women.2 Progression of these tumors to multiple myeloma typically portends a poor prognosis.3 (Source: Mayo Clinic Proceedings)

Cancers, Vol. 16, Pages 178: The Singular Epidemiology of Plasmacytoma and Multiple Myeloma in French Guiana
Conclusions: In our territory, the incidence of PC and MM was higher and patients were diagnosed at a substantially younger age than in mainland France. Women had a greater incidence than men, and there was an increasing temporal trend of incidence among women. African ancestry and the frequency of obesity, notably among women, could have contributed to this observation. (Source: Cancers)
