Synthesis and preclinical evaluation of novel 18F-vancomycin-based tracers for the detection of bacterial infections using positron emission tomography
ConclusionHere we present the synthesis and first evaluation of the vancomycin-based PET tracers [18F]BODIPY-FL-vancomycin and [18F]PQ-VE1-vancomycin for image-guided detection of Gram-positive bacteria. Our study paves the way towards real-time bacteria-targeted diagnosis of soft tissue and implant-associated infections that are oftentimes caused by Gram-positive bacteria, even after prophylactic treatment with vancomycin. Echogenic intracardiac foci detection and location in the second-trimester ultrasound and association with fetal outcomes: A systematic literature review
ConclusionEIF alone was not associated with adverse outcomes for the infant. Only persistent EIF on the right side showed evidence of carrying a higher risk of cardiac abnormality and would warrant further follow-up. (Source: PLoS One)

Exploring the Effectiveness of Carboxymethylated and Crosslinked Albizia Procera Gum in Diltiazem Hydrochloride Matrix Tablets: A Comparative Analysis
This study investigates the efficacy of modified Albizia procera gum as a release-retardant polymer in Diltiazem hydrochloride (DIL) matrix tablets. Carboxymethylated Albizia procera gum (CAP) and ionically crosslinked carboxymethylated Albizia procera gum (Ca-CAP) were utilized, with Ca-CAP synthesized via crosslinking CAP with calcium ions (Ca2+) using calcium chloride (CaCl2). FTIR analysis affirmed polymer compatibility, while Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) assessed thermal behavior and crystallinity, respectively. Zeta potential analysis explored surface charge and electrostatic in...

Functional imaging in neuroendocrine tumors: assessment of molecular heterogeneity using [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-TOC and [18  F]FDG PET/CT
CONCLUSIONS: The performance of both PET/CT, particularly in G2 and G3, demonstrates the molecular heterogeneity of metastatic NETs and contributes to the selection of a more appropriate treatment, particularly in those high-grade patients who may benefit from radionuclide therapy (PRRT).PMID:38643835 | DOI:10.1016/j.remnie.2024.500011 (Source: Molecular Medicine)

Biodegradation of polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), and polystyrene (PS) microplastics by floc-forming bacteria, Bacillus cereus strain SHBF2, isolated from a commercial aquafarm
This study aimed to utilize beneficial floc-forming bacteria Bacillus cereus SHBF2 isolated from an aquaculture farm in reducing the MP particles (PE, PP, and PS) from their environment. The bacteria were inoculated for 60 days in a medium containing MP particle as a sole carbon source. On different days of incubation (DOI), the bacterial growth analysis was monitored and the MP particles were harvested to examine their weight loss, surface changes, and alterations in chemical properties. After 60 DOI, the highest weight loss was recorded for PE, 6.87 ± 0.92%, which was further evaluated to daily reduction rate (k), 0.001...

Radiographic Progression at Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer Diagnosis: A Prognostic Indicator of Metastatic Hormone-Sensitive Prostate Cancer
CONCLUSION: Radiographic progression at the point of CRPC diagnosis independently predicts a shorter OS post-CRPC in patients with mHSPC. Therefore, assessing radiographic changes at the time of CRPC diagnosis could be instrumental in managing CRPC in patients with mHSPC.PMID:38643665 | DOI:10.1016/j.clgc.2024.102075 (Source: Clinical Prostate Cancer)
