Third Generation Solid Dispersion-Based Formulation of Novel Anti-Tubercular Agent Exhibited Improvement  in Solubility, Dissolution and Biological Activity
AbstractThe long treatment period and development of drug resistance in tuberculosis (TB) necessitates the discovery of new anti-tubercular agents. The drug discovery program of the institute leads to the development of an anti-tubercular lead (IIIM-019), which is an analogue of nitrodihydroimidazooxazole and exhibited promising anti-tubercular action. However, IIIM-019 displays poor aqueous solubility (1.2  µg/mL), which demands suitable dosage form for its efficient oral administration. In the present study, third generation solid dispersion-based formulation was developed to increase the solubility and dissolution of ...

Off-label Use of Balloon-Expandable Transcatheter Valves to Treat Pure Aortic Regurgitation
Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) in native pure aortic regurgitation (AR) with off-label use of balloon expandable valves (BEV) has been reported. However, there are scant data regarding optimal oversizing and its safety and our study assessed BEV oversizing and outcomes of TAVI. Thirteen consecutive tricuspid aortic valve patients undergoing transfemoral TAVIs for pure AR with Sapien BEV at our centre between 2019 and 2023 (69.2% males, mean age 80.8 years, STS 4.0%) were divided into small annulus group ( ≤618mm2, SA) where ≥20% oversizing is achievable based on published data on BEV overexpansion, and ...

Off- to in-season body composition adaptations in elite male and female endurance and power event athletics competitors: an observational study
ConclusionsThe present study found that male athletes gained more BM, LM and trunk LM than females. Within-group increases in regional and whole-body LM and BMC were predominantly found among power event competitors. Incorporating individual meaningful changes alongside traditional statistics provided additional insights into sex and event-group differences. Future research on elite athletic event groups should include DXA measurements closer to major outdoor-season competitions, coupled with site-specific measures (ultrasound, MRI) for better detection of subtle changes in LM and FM. Using an artificial intelligence software improves emergency medicine physician intracranial haemorrhage detection to radiologist levels
Conclusion The Caire ICH software significantly improved the accuracy and sensitivity of detecting an ICH by the EP to a level comparable to general radiologists. Further prospective research with larger numbers will be needed to understand the impact of Caire ICH on ED logistics and patient outcomes. (Source: Emergency Medicine Journal)

Synthesis and preclinical evaluation of novel 18F-vancomycin-based tracers for the detection of bacterial infections using positron emission tomography
ConclusionHere we present the synthesis and first evaluation of the vancomycin-based PET tracers [18F]BODIPY-FL-vancomycin and [18F]PQ-VE1-vancomycin for image-guided detection of Gram-positive bacteria. Our study paves the way towards real-time bacteria-targeted diagnosis of soft tissue and implant-associated infections that are oftentimes caused by Gram-positive bacteria, even after prophylactic treatment with vancomycin. Exploring the Effectiveness of Carboxymethylated and Crosslinked Albizia Procera Gum in Diltiazem Hydrochloride Matrix Tablets: A Comparative Analysis
This study investigates the efficacy of modified Albizia procera gum as a release-retardant polymer in Diltiazem hydrochloride (DIL) matrix tablets. Carboxymethylated Albizia procera gum (CAP) and ionically crosslinked carboxymethylated Albizia procera gum (Ca-CAP) were utilized, with Ca-CAP synthesized via crosslinking CAP with calcium ions (Ca2+) using calcium chloride (CaCl2). FTIR analysis affirmed polymer compatibility, while Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) assessed thermal behavior and crystallinity, respectively. Zeta potential analysis explored surface charge and electrostatic in...
