Inflammatory breast cancer: Epidemiologic data and therapeutic results
In this study, we reviewed the literature using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database compared to other published series. We observed that in the high incidence areas (North of Africa) when compared to "classical" breast cancer, IBC was associated to younger age (less than 50 years) with rapid evolution of signs and symptoms (in less than 3 up to 6 months), and more aggressive clinical and histopathological-molecular parameters, due to the predominance of triple-negative and HER2+ subtypes in around 60% of cases. An epidemiologic trend was observed in both high and low incidence areas since the ei...

Molecular characterization of equine herpes viruses type 1 and 4 among Arabian horse populations in Egypt during the period between 2021 and 2022
CONCLUSION: The current investigation showed that molecular methods are appropriate assays for an efficient and accurate diagnosis of EHVs. Furthermore, it supports earlier research findings about the prevalence of EHV-1 and 4 in Arabian horse populations in Egypt.PMID:38633187 | PMC:PMC11018441 | DOI:10.5455/OVJ.2024.v14.i1.48 (Source: Herpes)

Prevalence of autoimmune thyroiditis among children with autoimmune hepatitis
ConclusionAutoimmune hepatitis in Egyptian children is commonly associated with other autoimmune diseases. Autoimmune thyroiditis is the most common to be associated with AIH in pediatric patients. As it is not usually clinically manifesting, regular screening for AIT in children with AIH is mandatory. (Source: Italian Journal of Pediatrics)

The outcome of endovenous intervention for acute iliofemoral deep venous thrombosis with and without inferior vena cava filter
CONCLUSION: Endovenous intervention in the form of CDT for acute iliofemoral DVT without an IVC filter is safe and not associated with an increased risk of pulmonary embolization than filter usage. The routine use of IVC filters should not be used mandatorily during CDT.PMID:38629793 | DOI:10.1177/02676591241247294 (Source: Perfusion)

Influence of the use of remediated soil and agricultural drainage water on the safety of tomato fruits
In conclusion, the employed bioremediation techniques successfully reduced the PTE content and microbial load in both soil and drainage water ecosystems and in harvested tomato fruits. Henceforth, no health risks are expected from the consumption of this product.PMID:38632200 | DOI:10.1007/s11356-024-33187-z (Source: Environmental Science and Pollution Research International)

Isolated dentinogenesis imperfecta: Novel DSPP variants and insights on genetic counselling
Conclusions and clinical relevanceOur study extends the number ofDSPP pathogenic variants and strengthens the fact thatDSPP is the most common DI causative gene irrespective of patients ’ ethnicity. In addition, we provide insights on genetic counseling issues in patients with inheritedDSPP variants taking into consideration the variable religion, culture and laws in our society. Submicron aerosol pollution in Greater Cairo (Egypt): A new type of urban haze?
Environ Int. 2024 Mar 27;186:108610. doi: 10.1016/j.envint.2024.108610. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTGreater Cairo, the largest megacity of the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region, is currently suffering from major aerosol pollution, posing a significant threat to public health. However, the main sources of pollution remain insufficiently characterized due to limited atmospheric observations. To bridge this knowledge gap, we conducted a continuous 2-month field study during the winter of 2019-2020 at an urban background site, documenting for the first time the chemical and physical properties of submicron (PM1) aerosol...

Molecular characterization of the whole genome of H9N2 avian influenza virus isolated from Egyptian poultry farms
In this study, we sequenced the entire genome of AIV H9N2 isolated from chickens in Egypt in 2021, using next-generation sequencing (NGS) technology. Phylogenetic analysis of the resulting sequences showed that the studied strain was generally monophyletic and grouped within the G1 sublineage of the Eurasian lineage. Four segments (polymerase basic 2 [PB2], polymerase basic 1 [PB1], polymerase acidic [PA], and non-structural [NS]) were related to Egyptian genotype II, while the nucleoprotein (NP), neuraminidase (NA), matrix (M), and haemagglutinin (HA) segments were related to Egyptian genotype I. Molecular analysis reveal...
