A gastric sarcoma from 3000  years ago: paleopathological diagnosis at the field
ConclusionsMalignant diseases are seldom described in Paleopathology; to our knowledge, this is the oldest and most unique case of this type of pathology in mummies worldwide. (Source: Clinical and Translational Oncology)

During an ecological investigation, several species of bats were sampled and tested for SOSV RNA and only one species, the Egyptian rousette bat (ERBs; Rousettus aegyptiacus), tested positive. Since that time, multipl...

Principal component analysis of phenotypic and breeding value data for semen traits in Egyptian buffalo bulls
This study was conducted to assess the relationship between the breeding values as well as the phenotypic values for semen traits (VOL, MM, LS, AS and CONC) of the Egyptian buffalo bulls. A total of 7761 normal semen ejaculates were collected and characterized at ILMTC laboratory from 26 bulls from 2009 to 2019. For VOL, MM, LS, AS, and CONC, the actual means were 3.89 mL, 62.37%, 60.64%, 3.94%, and 0.67  × 109 sperm/mL, respectively. The prediction of breeding values for semen traits was estimated using a Bayesian procedure. The estimated standardized EBVs and phenotypic values were used in the principal component an...

Radio-anatomical evaluation of clinical and radiomic profile of multi-parametric magnetic resonance imaging of de novo glioblastoma multiforme
CONCLUSION: The current study takes a third-party database and reduces physician bias from interfering with study findings. Further prospective and retrospective studies are needed to provide conclusive data.PMID:38644430 | DOI:10.1186/s43046-024-00217-3 (Source: J Egypt Natl Canc In...)

Molecular characterization of equine herpes viruses type 1 and 4 among Arabian horse populations in Egypt during the period between 2021 and 2022
CONCLUSION: The current investigation showed that molecular methods are appropriate assays for an efficient and accurate diagnosis of EHVs. Furthermore, it supports earlier research findings about the prevalence of EHV-1 and 4 in Arabian horse populations in Egypt.PMID:38633187 | PMC:PMC11018441 | DOI:10.5455/OVJ.2024.v14.i1.48 (Source: Herpes)

Presence of the neurotoxin β-N-methylamino-L-alanine in irrigation water and accumulation in cereal grains with human exposure risk
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2024 Apr 18. doi: 10.1007/s11356-024-33188-y. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe present study demonstrates the presence of the neurotoxin β-N-methylamino-L-alanine and its cyanobacterial producers in irrigation water and grains of some cereal plants from farmlands irrigated with Nile River water in Egypt. BMAA detected by LC-MS/MS in phytoplankton samples was found at higher concentrations of free form (0.84-11.4 μg L-1) than of protein-bound form (0.16-1.6 μg L-1), in association with the dominance of cyanobacteria in irrigation water canals. Dominant cyanobacterial species isolated from the...

Inflammatory breast cancer: Epidemiologic data and therapeutic results
In this study, we reviewed the literature using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database compared to other published series. We observed that in the high incidence areas (North of Africa) when compared to "classical" breast cancer, IBC was associated to younger age (less than 50 years) with rapid evolution of signs and symptoms (in less than 3 up to 6 months), and more aggressive clinical and histopathological-molecular parameters, due to the predominance of triple-negative and HER2+ subtypes in around 60% of cases. An epidemiologic trend was observed in both high and low incidence areas since the ei...

Prevalence of autoimmune thyroiditis among children with autoimmune hepatitis
ConclusionAutoimmune hepatitis in Egyptian children is commonly associated with other autoimmune diseases. Autoimmune thyroiditis is the most common to be associated with AIH in pediatric patients. As it is not usually clinically manifesting, regular screening for AIT in children with AIH is mandatory. (Source: Italian Journal of Pediatrics)

The outcome of endovenous intervention for acute iliofemoral deep venous thrombosis with and without inferior vena cava filter
CONCLUSION: Endovenous intervention in the form of CDT for acute iliofemoral DVT without an IVC filter is safe and not associated with an increased risk of pulmonary embolization than filter usage. The routine use of IVC filters should not be used mandatorily during CDT.PMID:38629793 | DOI:10.1177/02676591241247294 (Source: Perfusion)
