J Diet Suppl. 2024 Apr 15:1-32. doi: 10.1080/19390211.2024.2340509. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDiabetes is a metabolic disorder whose prevalence has become a worrying condition in recent decades. Chronic diabetes can result in serious health conditions such as impaired kidney function, stroke, blindness, and myocardial infarction. Despite a variety of currently available treatments, cases of diabetes and its complications are on the rise. This review article provides a comprehensive account of the ameliorative effect of prebiotics and probiotics individually or in combination i.e. synbiotics on health complications indu...

Plasma proteomics of diabetic kidney disease among Asians with younger-onset type 2 diabetes
CONCLUSION: Large-scale proteomic analysis identified novel proteomic biomarkers for DKD progression in YT2D. Genetic evidence suggest a causal role of plasma angiogenin in DKD progression.PMID:38626182 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgae266 (Source: The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism)

IRE1 α regulates macrophage polarization in type 2 diabetic periodontitis through promoting endoplasmic reticulum stress
CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that inhibiting IRE1α can modulate macrophage polarization and alleviate ligature-induced diabetic periodontitis via the MAPK signaling pathway. This unveils a novel mechanism, offering a scientific foundation for the treatment of experimental diabetic periodontitis.PMID:38626546 | DOI:10.1016/j.intimp.2024.112056 (Source: International Immunopharmacology)

Therapy combining glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist with sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor suppresses atherosclerosis in diabetic ApoE-deficient mice
Conclusions Our data suggest that combination therapy with liraglutide and ipragliflozin may be an efficient regimen for preventing the development of atherosclerosis in diabetic ApoE-deficient mice.PMID:38626913 | DOI:10.1055/a-2307-8036 (Source: Atherosclerosis)

GSE263852 Linc-ADAIN, A Human Adipose LincRNA Regulates Adipogenesis by Modulating KLF5 and IL-8 mRNA stability
Contributors : Marcella E O'Reilly ; Chenyi Xue ; Eunyoung KimSeries Type : Expression profiling by high throughput sequencingOrganism : Homo sapiensAdipose tissue remodeling and dysfunction, characterized by increased inflammation and insulin resistance, play a central role in obesity-related development of type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and cardiovascular diseases. Long intergenic non-coding RNAs (lincRNAs) are important regulators of cellular functions. Here we describe the functions of linc-ADAIN (ADipose Anti-INflammatory), an adipose lincRNA that is downregulated in white adipose tissue of obese humans. We demonstrate that...

Modification of lipoprotein metabolism and function driving atherogenesis in diabetes
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic metabolic disease, characterized by raised blood glucose levels and impaired lipid metabolism resulting from insulin resistance and relative insulin deficiency. In diabetes, the peculiar plasma lipoprotein phenotype, consisting in higher levels of apolipoprotein B-containing lipoproteins, hypertriglyceridemia, low levels of HDL cholesterol, elevated number of small, dense LDL, and increased non-HDL cholesterol, results from an increased synthesis and impaired clearance of triglyceride rich lipoproteins.
