Serological screening for celiac disease, by endomysial antibodies, in patients with rheumatoid arthritis
Ann Biol Clin (Paris). 2024 Feb 24;81(6):569-575. doi: 10.1684/abc.2023.1851.ABSTRACTCeliac disease (CD) and rheumathoid arthritis (RA) are both multi-factorial chronic inflammatory auto-immune diseases. In this retrospective study, we determined the frequency of CD in patients with RA using IgA anti-endomysial antibodies (EmA) and tried to explain this association. Indirect immunofluorescence on human umbilical cord was used to detect EmA in 215 patients with seropositive RA collected over a 4-year-period. Two thousand and five hundred healthy blood donors (HBD) served as control group. Among the 215 patients with RA, 12 ...

Sustained control of recalcitrant chronic spontaneous urticaria after initiation of inflammatory airway diseases treatment: two case reports
ConclusionsWe suggest a novel approach of controlling remote epithelial site inflammation in these two cases that resulted in sustained-control of urticaria symptoms without the need for systemic corticosteroids or immunosuppressant. The changes of autoimmune antibodies might be the consequences of tolerance breaking from chronic lower airway inflammation as observed in other epithelial inflammatory condition like in celiac disease and rheumatoid arthritis. A significant increase in anthropometric indices during long-term follow-up of pediatric patients with celiac disease, with no endocrine disorders
Conclusion: Over a long-term follow-up, pediatric patients withCeD demonstrate significant increases in weight, height, and BMI-for-age. Younger age at diagnosis is associated with greater improvement in weight and linear growth, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis ofCeD.What is Known:• Celiac disease (СeD) is likely to be associated with growth impairment and poor weight gain.• Long-term changes in anthropometric indices after diagnosis of CeD are not well characterized. What is New:• Over a long-term follow-up, pediatric patients with CeD demonstrate significant increases in weight, height, and BMI-for-ag...

Two randomised crossover multicentre studies investigating gastrointestinal symptoms after bread consumption in individuals with non-coeliac wheat sensitivity: do wheat species and fermentation type matter?
CONCLUSIONS: The majority of NCWS individuals experienced some GI symptoms for at least one of the breads, but on a group level, no differences were found between different grains for either YF or SF breads.CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRY: ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT04084470(https://classic.CLINICALTRIALS: gov/ct2/show/NCT04084470).PMID:38373694 | DOI:10.1016/j.ajcnut.2024.02.008 (Source: The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition)
