What is honestly important when ranking residencies?
Currently on interviews right now and honestly the programs are all starting to blend together. I have no strong geographic ties just want to get good training without getting burnt out. All the programs so far have had good vibes and seems like I could work with the residents and faculty no problem. All also seem to have enough volume (usually too much). I honestly don't know how to rank these programs outside of like doximity reputation... is there something else I should be thinking about? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

First Failure with advise.
Well I managed to pass all my classes, pass boards and do generally good.
However, I finally had my first failure with a final grade sitting at 69.3.
The moral of the story, don’t let yourself burn out because this is how I ended up here.
The course was a pediatric course. I’ve been trying to get pregnant for sometime with out success. Seeing all the baby images finally tipped me over the edge. I learned burn out is staring at a lecture for hours without retaining information. Take a...

Early-career physicians continue to favor employed opportunities over private practice as declining reimbursements, steep medical school debt and the cost of malpractice insurance premiums remain key factors driving career choices, according to the "Medscape Young Physician Compensation Report 2021."
Almost 2,500 "young...

burn out?
just thought id repost my reddit qs here for more help:
I’m not sure if this is the best sub Reddit for this post or where I should instead put this, but I’ve never felt more burnt out- I’m not even sure if it’s burn out or something else at this pt. I put an insane amount of pressure on my self- I’m not sure how many others can relate but like actually insane amount. Im never happy with my scores/stats even if they exceed what they need to and I always feel anxious. I’ve been prepping for...

Is it it worth it for a GP to go back for Otho residency?
I’m almost 10 years out as a GP, kinda burnt out from needles/blood/injections. I do like providing simple Ortho, and the happy patients. On the flip side I make about 250k a year, no student debt. I could pay in full for one of those private programs, but is it worth it? It would probably eat away all my savings. I’d like to make atleast 300k when I’m out of residency to make it worth my while of going back, plus also enjoy my career some more. Thoughts? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Conference presentations v. invited talks and reducing conference activity?
This thread is brought to you by the fact that proposals for a conference that I've attended before are due today, and I'm still debating whether to submit some or not, heh. Lately, I've just felt a bit burned out on the conference game, probably due to a year and a half of them being online (which is wonderful for finance and accessibility; meh for social and entertainment value) and because I've somehow ended up getting a good number of invited speaker invites over the past 12 months or so...

Looking to leave healthcare completely
Hello everyone,
I know this is probably not the best place to post a question like this but I figured it may be worth it a shot and see if anyone had similar situations during ones own career. I’m 27 years old and have been a paramedic for about three years at this point and in EMS emergency for about 7 years. I am not afraid to admit that I am completely burnt out. I am at the point where I have zero passion for help people. I don’t care to check off my drug bag anymore. I don’t care...

Best ROI: Scaling with Mid-Levels versus "Mom-Docs?"
A related conundrum on the PA/NP doing procedures discussion. Which is the best option:
A) "Alpha" ortho-PA kind of burned out of ortho call and wants to transition to clinic-only/first-assist practice. Probably very efficient in the clinic but more limited skill set.
B) Beta/"Mom-doc" (could actually be male or female) with a high-earning spouse remote working spouse and nanny looking for an "interesting" way to keep busy in between running kids to events, etc. Broader skill set and...
