24 hr shifts
So I’m thinking about signing a contract at a place that works 24h shifts. Now admittedly the hourly rate is lower than what I’m being offered in the city, but you usually get a few hours of sleep. Census is 13k with 12 hrs of APP coverage, docs average 1pph over a shift. My question for you guys is what is a reasonable number of 24s to do in a month without getting burned out? My urban offer is for 10x12s and this rural gig averages 6x24s. Since the hourly rate is a bit lower I was... 24 hr shifts (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How long will companies operate like this? and whats the plan?
Guys, I'm wondering how long the companies like CVS, WAGS, and WM will operate like this? i mean, barely enough staff to run the Rx's for the day. Then they ask you to be clinical tester. Immunizer, screener.........etc, and on and on right? maybe like me you gotta manage too. (scheduling, Meeting KPI'S, meetings....whatever)........ What do you think is the over all agenda here and how long will it go on before they collapse the pharmacies? My theory is simply they are trying to burn... Burnt out and not retaining
I started ICU as my first rotation, and I am already feeling burnt out. I feel like I am managing my patients fairly well, haven't had much issue with fellows/attendings. But I don't feel like I am learning much or retaining anything although I'm spending my life in the ICU. Anyone ever felt the same way? How do I get over this stump? What are some good resources/recommendations? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Observation Hours
I'm currently applying to PT programs and wonder what settings would be beneficial and how many would be recommended? To date I have observation hours in out-patient orthopedics, skilled-nursing, in-patient burn therapy, neurological wellness, and CVICU. Are there other areas of PT that I should try to get into for observation? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Sabbatical Month
My group is beginning to offer a sabbatical month. It is basically a month where I can pursue whatever I want to enrich my professional career, help avoid burn out, reignite my passion for emergency medicine, etc. I could likely work my schedule one either side of the month to add a week to stretch it to 6 weeks. What have you guys done with a sabbatical month? I would prefer to bring my family with me if I go anywhere (including 2 kids < 5 years old). I have considered an intensive... Article Addressing Stress, Fatigue, and Burnout among pharmacists....maybe they are waking up?
I found this article in my email, I wonder if it will do anything for us in the end. Or is it just another way of saying, "pharmacists need to adapt" lol.... Stakeholders adopt recommendations on critical issues related to pharmacist well-being and patient safety The recommendations are the product of a national consensus conference on well-being and resilience held in Chicago on July 17–19, 2019. Within the recommendations, multiple stakeholders are charged to support meaningful and actionable change in areas including pharmaci...

Online undergrad
Hello all, I am a 28 year old married non-trad with no kids and have been in my job for 9 years. I recently decided that I should pursue my electrical engineering degree. I am currently an electronics technician and am really burnt out. I am very good at my job and that has never been a problem for me but recently things have been going on to really disillusion me with my career. I am the type of person to need to be at the top of their field technically. I don't mind answering to someone... Online undergrad (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is it okay if grades decline if Step score might go up?
Hello. M2 is fast approaching and I did not revamp at all this summer. I am, more likely than not, going to start the year off nearly burnt out. I am doing summer research full time and dealing with health problems and medical bills on the side. It's not to the point where I can justify taking time off (I don't want anyone worrying about me), but enough that it will take weeks to months to get back into the groove come August. Then, I'm sure once I find my rhythm in class, they will start... Is it okay if grades decline if Step score might go up? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

If I hate working nights, what sort of subspecialties/practice arrangements in neurology should I look into?
Interested in hearing about people's day-to-day practice and satisfaction/gripes! Right now I like most everything I've seen in neuro, and I totally understand that residency is residency - you'll be on call a lot and super busy. However, for long-term career, I think waking up at 3am every few weeks to go see patients at the hospital would burn me out. I know headache and movement disorder docs generally have a more "chill" lifestyle, but would like to hear people's opinions on minimizing...
