RECELL Burn therapy
A tiny company called Avanta? is launching a burn therapy where you take a skin sample and turn it into a spray of cells that heal the wound... sounds like garbage but it's FDA approved. Anyone have any experience with their product, RECELL? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Yep. 3:30 AM. Chief Complaint: "I think my girl gotta UTI." Sure, simple enough. I walk into the room, interrupting intimacy. "Hi. I'm Dr. RustedFox. I can wait until you're done if you'd like." Nawww, doc. It burn when she pee. "Sure. Can you get out of the hospital bed and we can conduct a proper [ffuucking] history and physical exam?" Nawww.... it dun matter (she said, not stopping from kissing him and reaching into the front of his pants). It didn't matter to me. UA/UCG. UTI... I hate you, muggles. Stepping down from a PIC position
I'm burned out. I love practicing pharmacy, but the added layer management is eating away at my physical and mental well-being. I'm very reluctant to tell my boss that I no longer want to manage, but want to continue practicing pharmacy for the company as I fear that it may lead to some retaliation or complete job loss. Has anyone been in a situation similar to this? How did you handle it and how did it go? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Hospitalist confused about what to do next
I am a hospitalist that recently finished residency in 2018. I am having a bit of a career crisis and I am looking for advice on what to do. I think hospitalist medicine is okay, but I am worried about long term sustainability as I am already starting to burn out from this. I don't think its job related because I honestly couldnt imagine a much better job than what I have. I decided on hospitalist because I liked the broad scope of work and I didn't feel strongly about any specific... Hospitalist confused about what to do next (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I am still here … not sure if it's the right thing to do or not.
Hello, I became a member of SDN around 2016 but had been lurking in the forums browsing for far longer. Basically, I have a drive to begin my pre-med journey but am struggling for years on the reality of my situation... I am married, 36 and have a daughter that is almost 3. Going back to school would be difficult for me but could manage because the current career i've chosen is unfulfilling and mostly burnt out. I have school loans from my bachelor's that has not yet been completely paid... I am still here… not sure if it's the right thing to do or not. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Case Western (paying full tuition) vs Ohio State
Really really really beyond stuck with this decision.... Ohio state is cheaper by $170k over four years taking into account housing and tuition, but it has a match list that is significantly less impressive than Case Western. I know people have said you can work hard and match where you want, but I feel burnt out from undergrad and I don’t think I would prefer that lifestyle at Ohio State (the work hard study all day to be the top in the class mentality is very stressful). Ohio is ranked P/F... Case Western (paying full tuition) vs Ohio State (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Applying Late in the Cycle ~ August MCAT
I really want to apply to medical school this cycle. I know that taking the MCAT late means that I will start at a disadvantage as my scores will be out in September. I am submitting my application with one burn school to get verified, holding my applications to my other schools depending on the result of my MCAT. I will pre-write the majority of my secondaries while awaiting my score. I am planning on applying to schools that historically take applicants with a slightly lower GPA and MCAT... Let it burn!!
Question for you all, if you were to say to hell with medicine, drop a NYT article, national interview, etc on the bull**** that goes on in medicine that the public would be appalled at, What would you say? This is, of course, assuming the public was intelligent, well informed, and gave a ****. Ive got a couple. 1) When DOH JCAHO, WTFBBQ, comes for a site visit, they inform people well ahead of time, tell them what they will be judged on, the hospital of course cleans up their act... Please post the secondary questions once you receive them. Check last year's thread in the 2017-2018 SSD forum for last year's questions, they tend to not change very much from year to year. PhD to MD. Reapplicant. Feeling discouraged.
I am finishing the fourth year of my PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. I applied to medical school for several reasons, including missing having the patient interactions, directly impacting patients' lives, generally loving the field of medicine, not wanting the instability of academic life (relying on grants for funding), feeling burnt out by the mindset of academia (only getting high impact publications if you have big PIs on your manuscripts, etc.), and so on. Looking back, I do... PhD to MD. Reapplicant. Feeling discouraged. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Recommendation letters from Observership
Hi fellas - I've been searching the forums for an answer to this without success so don't burn on me on first attempt please. One of the dentists that I shadowed for a while asked me to draft a recommendation letter she could review. I've looked at some official sample letters posted on university websites as well as read the expected elaborate details that make for a strong letter. I am stumped about how to indicate valuable specific contributions on the recommendation letter when all we do... Recommendation letters from Observership (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Hospitalist Interview Questions!! how to ask delicate questions.
I am trying to find the diamond in rough hospitalist jobs. The one that provide good work life balance. I don't mind travelling to middle of nowhere, even alaska, I dont mind working nights ,days , swings whatever. Important to me is - I dont want to be burned out, take my time with my patients, and go home with still a decent amount of energy left in my tank. If working days, one of the things that is important to me is being able to leave the hospital when work is done, unless you are... Hospitalist Interview Questions!! how to ask delicate questions.
