I "see" 1200 patients a month
NP "sees" 1200 patients a month in urgent care Fair compensation for collaborating Physician | Student Doctor Network Communities "I would keep my FNP gig but I am getting burned out. I work a busy urgent care and see 80-100 patients by myself in a 12 hour day. I saw around 1200 patients last month." "Most of it is Covid testing but I still lay eyes one very patient. Still see regular urgent care complaints mixed in with the bunch. Prior to Covid a really busy day in Flu... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Incoming MS1 planning on starting Anki from Day 1. What would be the ideal settings?
I don’t want to burn out too quickly but I definitely want to do a decent amount of Anki every day. In particular, I’m wondering the following: 1. How many new cards should I do per day if I’m starting Anki from Day 1? Is 100 too much or is that a good amount? 2. Which ”Steps” settings should I use if I’m starting this early? I’m thinking 15 1440 4320, with a graduating interval of 6 days and a easy interval of 8 days. Would that be ideal in my case? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Neuropsych postdoc.. is it worth it?
Hi everyone, I am looking for some advice on whether a neuropsych postdoc is actually worth doing. I matched to an APPCN neuro postdoc and I know I should be very excited about it, but I'm starting to feel a bit anxious and depressed about it tbh. Maybe it's just bc I'm in the throes of internship right now and feeling a bit burnt out and also bc the postdoc is not in the area I was wanting to end up at. I am just tired of being poor and the thought of having to spend 2 more years struggling... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

EM isn't the only thing getting scorched right now..
Burn docs in Arizona are warning the locals to beware coming into contact with things like asphalt and sidewalks due to the burn risk they pose as temperatures soar. Apparently seven people died last year from these kinds of burns...yet the population there continues to grow at one of the fastest clips in the country. People seem to love it. What am I missing? Locums Job
What is the most outrageous locums job you've seen/heard of? I recall reading about a job offering something near 800k for 6 months in Northern Alaska when there is no sunlight for a crazy number of hours/day. Skipping the fact that this would burn me out, if I were feeling particularly masochistic what other kinds of jobs like this have you heard of that I could do for 6 months, 1 year, or even 2-3 years to pay off my loans and catch up on retirement? Just accepted a VA Staff Psychologist position - is it bad to apply to another?
Hello SDN folks! I am finishing up my postdoc and accepted a Staff Psychologist position at my local VA. Since accepting, a new position opened up at a neighboring VA that offers EDRP (mine does not). Is it inadvisable to apply for the position that offers EDRP at this time? I really don't want to burn any bridges, but EDRP would help my finances a great deal. If it would be frowned upon, how long should I stay in my current position before applying to others that offer EDRP? It's really... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Potential red flags in personal statement, am I explaining too deeply?
Hello everyone, I am in the process of writing my personal statement and I have taken a couple of years after graduating undergrad to apply. In that time, I worked as an EMT for 6 months. I loved working on an ambulance and wish I still could, but the job was too much to handle. It was a private ambulance service and we did both interfacility transport and local 911 calls. The company was full of burned out paramedics who hated working on a truck, never wanted to teach, hated working with... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Washington State University College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences
There are no breaks from exams throughout the semester. All four exams are on a SINGLE DAY on Mondays and there are a full day of classes the next day. Most pharmacy schools have their therapy, pharmaceutics, and physiology finals spread throughout the week, but not here. With Spring Break cancelled, there were no days off. Bring up how burnt out everyone is and you will be dismissed or brushed off by administration. Go here if you want 4 exams in 1 day (4 times a... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Are there PharmD jobs that don't require a license?
I'm approaching graduation and I have not been able to study properly for NAPLEX or the CPJE. During rotations, I was completely burned out and didn't study enough during downtimes. The past few weeks I have not been able to commit to a solid study schedule due to some personal problems. I will have more time in about two weeks. But as I try to study I realize how little I actually know. I just can't retain any information. When I try to study brand and generic names I just get frustrated... Changing research areas?
Is it possible to switch research areas entirely? My CV, both research and service, is built around mental health/trauma in marginalized groups. It’s important work, and I’m proud of my work, but I’ve been feeling incredibly burnt out on it, especially because of the sociopolitics involved and the intersections with my personal experiences of marginalization. I’m just tired and ready to do something else. Thoughts? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How has student loan debt negatively affected you?
For those DVMs who had to take loans for part/all of their education and are currently in the repayment phase (or if you've already paid off your loans), what is/was the most stressful part of that? Or had the biggest downfall? Check all that apply! If you have any other comments please add them below! For the record, I had to borrow the complete cost of attendance for both undergrad and veterinary schools, and I'm just curious how others have felt about the impact it's had on your life.
