Evaluation of the Efficacy and Safety of Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate in Intercepting Mother-to-Child Transmission of Hepatitis B Virus
This study assessed the effects of tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) in pregnant women for mother-to-infant transmission of HBV. A total of 122 pregnant women at our hospital met the inclusion criteria for high HBV DNA viral loads. They were randomly divided into TDF-treatment (n=70) and placebo (n=52) groups. Maternal liver function and serum HBV DNA load were tested before and after treatment. Clinical and laboratory data of infants were assayed at delivery and 7-months post-partum visit and compared between the two groups. There was no difference in clinical characteristics of participants between the two groups. Ther...

Bioequivalence of Related GelShield < sup > Ⓡ < /sup > Sustained-Release Formulations of Metformin: A Pooled Pharmacokinetic Analysis
Clin Ther. 2024 Apr 29:S0149-2918(24)00077-8. doi: 10.1016/j.clinthera.2024.03.011. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPURPOSE: GlucophageⓇ (Merck Healthcare KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany) is the originator brand of metformin hydrochloride, an oral antidiabetic drug. Metformin is recommended in guidelines as first-line treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and increasingly in related insulin-resistant conditions, such as prediabetes and polycystic ovary syndrome. The GelShieldⓇ sustained-release formulation tablet of GlucophageⓇ has been improved from the historic version marketed in 2000. Bioequivalence has been demonstrated ...

Relationship between HER2-low status and efficacy of CDK4/6 inhibitors in advanced breast cancer: a real-world study
CONCLUSIONS: The mPFS in the Her2-zero group was almost twice that of the Her2-low group, but the difference was not statistically significant. mPFS was significantly longer in the HER2-zero group compared to the HER2-low group in patients receiving ribociclib. More prospective studies are needed to understand the actual consequences of this biomarker.PMID:38687407 | DOI:10.1007/s10147-024-02528-w (Source: Clinical Breast Cancer)

A Study on the Effects of Esketamine Combined with Comprehensive Nursing Intervention on Postoperative Pain, Postpartum Depression, and Quality of Life in Women Undergoing Cesarean Section
CONCLUSION: The application of esketamine combined with comprehensive nursing intervention after cesarean section has a positive impact on the pain relief, postpartum depression, and quality of life of parturients. This study provides new insights and guidance for clinical practice, potentially enhancing the postoperative experience of women undergoing cesarean section. These findings furnish healthcare professionals with valuable insights and guidance, fostering a nuanced and improved standard of care in obstetric practices.PMID:38687857 (Source: Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine)

Prediction and causal inference of hyperuricemia using gut microbiota
This study aimed to determine the relationship between HUA and GM. The microbiome of 224 men and 254 women aged 40 years was analyzed through next-generation sequencing and machine learning. We obtained GM data through 16S rRNA-based sequencing of the fecal samples, finding that alpha-diversity by Shannon index was significantly low in the HUA group. Linear discriminant effect size analysis detected a high abundance of the genera Collinsella and Faecalibacterium in the HUA and non-HUA groups. Based on light gradient boosting machine learning, we propose that HUA can be predicted with high AUC using four clinical characteri...

Sex differences in delay times in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction: A cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: Women took longer to go to health care services and had a longer delay both in the diagnosis of STEMI and in coronary reperfusion. It is imperative to emphasize the necessity of educating women about the recognition of ischemic heart disease symptoms, empowering them to raise early alarms and seek timely medical attention.PMID:38688735 | DOI:10.1016/j.medcli.2024.02.015 (Source: Medicina Clinica)

Envisioning Clinical Management of Breast Cancer: a Comprehensive Review
Curr Drug Discov Technol. 2024 Apr 29. doi: 10.2174/0115701638300812240417055802. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTComing to the edge of disease manufacturing in the twenty-first-century, breast cancer occupies a terrifying scenario in the globe, especially in adult women. Its curiosity endeavours remarkable advances made during the past decennaries for cancer treatment and diagnosis. <P></P> It accounts for the fifth leading cause of transience, killing approximately 570,000 people per annum. To reduce the prognosis of clinical oncological development with the application of a new chemical entity, some of the cri...

Metochalcone induces senescence-associated secretory phenotype via JAK2/STAT3 pathway in breast cancer
In this study, we found that TEC inhibited cell proliferation of breast cancer BT549 cells and lung cancer A549 cells in a concentration-dependent manner. TEC induced cell cycle arrest in the S-phase, cell migration inhibition in vitro, and reduced tumor growth in vivo. Moreover, transcriptomic analysis revealed that TEC modulated the activity of the JAK2/STAT3 and P53 pathways. TEC triggered the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP) by repressing the JAK2/STAT3 axis. The mechanism of metochalcone against breast cancer depended on the induction of SASP via deactivation of the JAK2/STAT3 pathway, highlighting the...

The involvement of rTPJ in intention attribution during social decision making: A TMS study
Cogn Affect Behav Neurosci. 2024 Apr 30. doi: 10.3758/s13415-024-01188-7. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe mini-Ultimatum Game (mini-UG) is a bargaining game used to assess the reactions of a responder to unfair offers made by a proposer under different intentionality conditions. Previous studies employing this task showed the activation of responders' right temporoparietal junction (rTPJ), which could be related to its involvement in judgments of intentionality. To verify this hypothesis, in the present study we applied online transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) over the rTPJ in responders during the mini-UG, in whic...
