Vitamin K < sub > 2 < /sub > Dependent Matrix Gla Protein Relating to Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm and Overall Mortality: A Combined Case Control and Cohort Study
CONCLUSION: dp-ucMGP did not correlate with the risk of having an AAA, AAA growth rate, or risk of surgery. For people with an AAA, dp-ucMGP was correlated with an increased mortality risk for the highest tertile of dp-ucMGP. This could suggest a role for prophylactic measures with vitamin K2 supplements to people at risk of AAA.PMID:33947618 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2021.03.016 (Source: PubMed: Eur J Vasc Endovasc ...)

Inflammatory Gene Expression of Human Perivascular Adipose Tissue in Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms
CONCLUSION: The data revealed that PVAT from AAA shows an increased pro-inflammatory and matrix metallopeptidase gene expression and decreased anti-inflammatory gene expression. Furthermore, increased expression of genes involved in aneurysm formation was found in healthy SMC co-culture with PVAT of AAA patients. Therefore, PVAT from AAA might contribute to inflammation of the adjacent aortic wall and thereby plays a possible role in AAA pathophysiology. These proposed pathways of inflammatory induction could reveal new therapeutic targets in AAA treatment.PMID:33858751 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2021.02.034 (Source: PubMed: Eur...

Short and Mid Term Outcomes of Cryopreserved Abdominal Aortic Allografts Used as a Substitute for Infected Prosthetic Grafts in 200 Patients
CONCLUSION: CAAs provide acceptable results to treat aortic graft infection with few early graft related fatal complications. Long term allograft related complications are quite common but are associated with low mortality and amputation rates.PMID:33858752 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2021.02.036 (Source: PubMed: Eur J Vasc Endovasc ...)
