Feline infectious peritonitis: A comprehensive evaluation of clinical manifestations, laboratory diagnosis, and therapeutic approaches
CONCLUSION: Confirming FIP cases can be challenging; therefore, a tentative diagnosis of FIP must be made with care. This study provided practical diagnostic tools to diagnose FIP based on clinical signs and multiple abnormalities, which allowed for more efficient and rapid detection.PMID:38680809 | PMC:PMC11055576 | DOI:10.5455/javar.2024.k742 (Source: Adv Data)

CRKL but not CRKII contributes to hemin-induced erythroid differentiation of CML
J Cell Mol Med. 2024 May;28(9):e18308. doi: 10.1111/jcmm.18308.ABSTRACTDestruction of erythropoiesis process leads to various diseases, including thrombocytopenia, anaemia, and leukaemia. miR-429-CT10 regulation of kinase-like (CRKL) axis involved in development, progression and metastasis of cancers. However, the exact role of miR-429-CRKL axis in leukaemic cell differentiation are still unknown. The current work aimed to uncover the effect of miR-429-CRKL axis on erythropoiesis. In the present study, CRKL upregulation was negatively correlated with miR-429 downregulation in both chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) patient an...

Long non-coding RNA NORAD regulates megakaryocyte differentiation and proplatelet formation via the DUSP6/ERK signaling pathway
In this study, we demonstrate NORAD RNA is highly expressed in the cytoplasm during megakaryocyte differentiation. Interestingly, we identified for the first time that NORAD has a strong inhibitory effect on megakaryocyte differentiation and proplatelet formation from cultured megakaryocytes. DUSP6/ERK1/2 pathway is activated in response to NORAD knockdown during megakaryocytopoiesis, which is achieved by sequestering PUM2 proteins. Finally, compared with the wild-type control mice, NORAD knockout mice show a faster platelet recovery after severe thrombocytopenia induced by 6 Gy total body irradiation. These findings demon...

Adverse reactions caused by high serum concentration of linezolid: Two case reports and literature review
The relationship between drug concentrations and adverse drug reactions in patients. Key Clinical MessageLinezolid is a potent oxazolidinone for the treatment of various gram-positive bacterial infections. However, the drug can cause potential adverse reactions such as thrombocytopenia, hyperlactacidemia and serotonin syndrome, which warrant consideration by the medical team when planning treatment. The existing literature has reported some adverse reactions caused by linezolid, but most of these are based on clinical characteristics and simple treatment measures. Two cases of linezolid overdose resulting in thrombocytopen...

Fewer severe infections with tranexamic acid in patients with hematologic malignancies
CONCLUSION: Patients with hematologic malignancies who received TXA had less severe infections than those who received placebo with no difference in overall rate of infection or other inflammatory outcomes. Further investigation is needed on the impact of TXA on infections in this population.PMID:38666065 | PMC:PMC11043644 | DOI:10.1016/j.rpth.2024.102358 (Source: Cell Research)
