Secretome of adipose derived-mesenchymal stem cells reduces the < em > Vibrio cholerae < /em > attachment to Caco-2 cells and subsequent inflammatory responses
CONCLUSION: The secretome of AD-MSCs can play a critical role in inhibiting bacterial colonization, and subsequent inflammatory responses, and maintaining the integrity of the epithelial barrier. The secretome may be effective in the prevention of hypovolemic shock.PMID:38682070 | PMC:PMC11055443 | DOI:10.18502/ijm.v16i1.14875 (Source: Iranian Journal of Microbiology)

CAVIN1-Mediated hERG Dynamics: A Novel Mechanism Underlying the Interindividual Variability in Drug-Induced Long QT
CONCLUSIONS: Our study identifies unbridled turnover of the potassium channel hERG as a mechanism supporting the interindividual susceptibility underlying diLQT development and demonstrates how this phenomenon is finely tuned by CAVIN1.PMID:38682330 | DOI:10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.123.063917 (Source: Circulation)

The Effect of Tumor Resection and Radiotherapy on the Expression of Stem Cell Markers (CD44 and CD133) in Patients with Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Conclusion: The results also indicated that the expression of CD44 significantly decreased after tumor resection and radiotherapy. The upregulation of mRNA level of Bcl-2 and ALDH, and the downregulation of Bax and Bak gene expression were noted in these cases when compared to the healthy control group.PMID:38680713 | PMC:PMC11055418 | DOI:10.18502/ijhoscr.v18i1.14748 (Source: Cancer Control)

Role of cancer stem cell ecosystem on breast cancer metastasis and related mouse models
Zool Res. 2024 May 18;45(3):506-517. doi: 10.24272/j.issn.2095-8137.2023.411.ABSTRACTBreast cancer metastasis is responsible for most breast cancer-related deaths and is influenced by many factors within the tumor ecosystem, including tumor cells and microenvironment. Breast cancer stem cells (BCSCs) constitute a small population of cancer cells with unique characteristics, including their capacity for self-renewal and differentiation. Studies have shown that BCSCs not only drive tumorigenesis but also play a crucial role in promoting metastasis in breast cancer. The tumor microenvironment (TME), composed of stromal cells,...

Evaluation of Central Nervous System Relapse in Adults with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) Receiving Hyper-CVAD Treatment in Seyyed Al-Shohada Hospital: Isfahan, 2014-2019
Conclusion: This study shows that the prognosis of CNS relapse in adults with ALL has not improved much. Limited studies have been conducted on the recurrence of the central nervous system in adults with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Therefore, further studies on CNS relapse after complete remission of ALL are required to clarify more details.PMID:38680719 | PMC:PMC11055424 | DOI:10.18502/ijhoscr.v18i1.14743 (Source: Cell Research)

Rate, Risk Factors, and Outcomes of Invasive Fungal Infections in Patients with Hematologic Malignancies
Conclusion: IFI represents a frequent complication for HM patients with high mortality. Aspergillus species are the predominant etiology in these settings. Considering our results, in high-risk patients, manifestations of warning signs in the sinus and lungs, which would not be cleared despite receiving antibiotics, should raise the possibility of IFIs.PMID:38680718 | PMC:PMC11055423 | DOI:10.18502/ijhoscr.v18i1.14746 (Source: Cell Research)

Lymphocyte Level at Diagnosis in Hodgkin lymphoma: Could It be an Indicator of the Stage at Initial Diagnosis?
Conclusion: This result can be improved in combination with conventional imaging methods used for staging purposes. Kinetics of Recovery of Naive and Memory T Cells in Acute Leukemia Patients after Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplantation Depending on Different GVHD Prophylaxis Regimens
Conclusion: These experimental outcomes contribute to providing the best understanding of immunological events that occur early after transplantation and help in the rational choice of GVHD prophylaxis in patients who will undergo allogeneic transplantation. Our study demonstrated the comparable immunological effects of posttransplant cyclophosphamide and ex vivo T cell depletion and immunological inefficiency of horse ATG for GVHD prevention.PMID:38680716 | PMC:PMC11055426 | DOI:10.18502/ijhoscr.v18i1.14742 (Source: Cell Research)

Fludarabine-Based Reduced-Intensity Conditioning Regimen for Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation in a Pediatric Patient with Sickle Cell Disease: A Case Report
Int J Hematol Oncol Stem Cell Res. 2024 Jan 1;18(1):104-109. doi: 10.18502/ijhoscr.v18i1.14750.ABSTRACTReduced-intensity conditioning (RIC) regimens have the potential to decrease toxicities related to hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HCT) in patients with sickle cell disease (SCD). While initial results may have been acceptable in adults and young adults, there are no well-established strategies in children with SCD. Here, it is described the clinical course of two children with symptomatic SCD who have successfully undergone HSCT using Fludarabin-based conditioning.PMID:38680715 | PMC:PMC11055425 | DOI:10.18502/i...

The Importance of Pseudo Thrombocytopenia Due to Platelet Cold Agglutination before Surgery, What Should We Do? A Case Report
Int J Hematol Oncol Stem Cell Res. 2024 Jan 1;18(1):100-103. doi: 10.18502/ijhoscr.v18i1.14749.ABSTRACTPlatelet cold agglutination (PCA) is a rare in-vitro phenomenon caused by Immunoglobulin M (IgM) autoantibodies, which results in Ethylenediaminetetraacetic Acid (EDTA) independent pseudo thrombocytopenia (PTCP). Its diagnosis is made based on the peripheral blood smear (PBS) examination and pre-test warming blood sample. Here, a case of PTCP secondary to PCA is presented. He was first admitted for pre-surgical tests but his platelet count was low. His blood was taken with EDTA and sodium citrate anticoagulant to rule pre...
