In situ monitoring of PTHLH secretion in neuroblastoma cells cultured onto nanoporous membranes
Publication date: 1 June 2018 Source:Biosensors and Bioelectronics, Volume 107 Author(s): Alfredo de la Escosura-Muñiz, Marisol Espinoza-Castañeda, Alejandro Chamorro-García, Carlos J. Rodríguez-Hernández, Carmen de Torres, Arben Merkoçi In this work, we propose for the first time the use of anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) nanoporous membranes for in situ monitoring of parathyroid hormone-like hormone (PTHLH) secretion in cultured human cells. The biosensing system is based on the nanochannels blockage upon immunocomplex formation, which is electrically monitored through the voltammetric oxidation of Prussian blue nanop...

BST2 promotes cell proliferation, migration and induces NF- κB activation in gastric cancer.
CONCLUSION: BST2 possesses the oncogenic potential in GC by regulating the proliferation, apoptosis, and migratory ability of GC cells, thereby BST2 could be a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of GC. PMID: 29774441 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Dendrobium moniliforme stem extract inhibits lipoteichoic acid-induced inflammatory responses by upregulation of heme oxygenase-1.
In this study, we investigated anti-inflammatory effects of the aqueous extract of D. moniliforme stems (DM) in response to lipoteichoic acid (LTA), a major constituent of the cell wall of Gram-positive bacteria. DM inhibited LTA-induced expression of a pro-inflammatory mediator inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) in the murine macrophages. And DM induced expression of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) at the transcriptional level. Conversely, the knockdown of HO-1 expression by siRNA markedly reversed the inhibitory effects of DM on LTA-induced iNOS expression. We also demonstrated that nuclear translocation of Nrf2 was increase...
