Novel nanocarriers for silencing anti-phagocytosis CD47 marker in acute myeloid leukemia cells
Colloids Surf B Biointerfaces. 2022 Jun 1;217:112609. doi: 10.1016/j.colsurfb.2022.112609. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAcute myeloid leukemia (AML), a malignant disorder of Hematopoietic stem cells, can escape immunosurveillance by over expression of the cluster of differentiation 47 (CD47) marker, which functions as an inhibitory signal, suppressing phagocytosis by binding to signal regulatory protein α (SIRPα) on macrophages. AML is treated mainly by chemotherapy, which has drastic side effects and poor outcomes for the patients. Most AML patients develop drug resistance, so other methods to treat AML are highly requ...

The combination of baicalin with knockdown of miR148a gene suppresses cell viability and proliferation and induces the apoptosis and autophagy of human glioblastoma multiforme T98G and U87MG cells
CONCLUSION: The siRNA-induced miR148a mRNA knockdown in combination with baicalin may offer a novel therapeutic strategy to more effective control the growth of human GBM cells. Thus, knockdown of this gene in combination with baicalin inhibits proliferation (cell cycle arrest in S phase in T98G but not in U87MG cells), induces apoptosis and regulates autophagy in T98G and U87MG cells, but further studies urgently needed to confirm a positive phenomenon for the treatment of GBM.PMID:35761505 | DOI:10.2174/1389201023666220627144100

Role of < em > Dgat2 < /em > in Glucose Uptake and Fatty Acid Metabolism in C2C12 Skeletal Myotubes
J Microbiol Biotechnol. 2023 Aug 18;33(12):1-9. doi: 10.4014/jmb.2307.07018. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAcyl-coenzyme A (CoA):diacylglycerol acyltransferase 2 (DGAT2) catalyzes the last stage of triacylglycerol (TAG) synthesis, a process that forms ester bonds with diacylglycerols (DAG) and fatty acyl-CoA substrates. The enzymatic role of Dgat2 has been studied in various biological species. Still, the full description of how Dgat2 channels fatty acids in skeletal myocytes and the consequence thereof in glucose uptake have yet to be well established. Therefore, this study explored the mediating role of Dgat2 in glucose ...
