STAT3 suppresses the AMPK α/ULK1-dependent induction of autophagy in glioblastoma cells
In this study, we found Serine-727 and Tyrosine-705 phosphorylation of STAT3 was constitutive in GBM cell lines. Tyrosine phosphorylation of STAT3 in GBM cells suppresses autophagy, whereas knockout (KO) of STAT3 increases ULK1 gene expression, increases TSC2-AMPKα-ULK1 signalling, and increases lysosomal Cathepsin D processing, leading to the stimulation of autophagy. Rescue of STAT3-KO cells by the enforced expression of wild-type (WT) STAT3 reverses these pathways and inhibits autophagy. The Neurokinin-1 Receptor Is Essential for the Viability of Human Glioma Cells: A Possible Target for Treating Glioblastoma
CONCLUSIONS: Our results show for the first time that the expression of the TAC1R gene (NK-1R) is essential for the viability of GAMG and U-87 MG glioma cells. LncRNA HOTAIR sponges miR-301a-3p to promote glioblastoma proliferation and invasion through upregulating FOSL1
In this study, HOTAIR expression was found to be positively regulated by TRPM7, significantly upregulated in glioma tissues, and is a poor prognosis factor for glioma patients. Moreover, reduced HOTAIR expression impeded the proliferation and invasion of glioma cells.
