Circulating levels of irisin and Meteorin-like protein in PCOS and its correlation with metabolic parameters
CONCLUSIONS: Although irisin seems to be a promising biomarker, inconsistent research limits its value in clinical use in the assessment or treatment of obesity. Metrnl level was not affected in the study population, but it might be connected to the severity of metabolic disturbances.PMID:38646985 | DOI:10.5603/ep.99111 (Source: Endokrynologia Polska)

A meta-analysis of bariatric surgery in patients with obesity and polycystic ovary syndrome
This study evaluated the efficacy of bariatric surgery on obesity complicated with PCOS through meta-analysis. PubMed, Cochrane, EMbase, and WOS databases were searched from 2012 to November 2022. Studies on the efficacy of bariatric surgery in the treatment of obesity combined with PCOS were included. Outcome indicators included menstrual abnormalities, BMI, free testosterone, hypertrichosis, and ovarian volume. Methodological quality of the included studies was evaluated, and statistical analysis was performed using RevMan 5.3 software. Finally, 9 studies were included, and the results of meta-analysis were as follows: A...

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS): progress towards  a better understanding and treatment of the syndrome
This article highlights how an altered fetal environment (prenatal exposure to high levels of anti-Müllerian hormone) can contribute to the onset of PCOS in adulthood and lead to the transgenerational transmission of neuroendocrine and metabolic traits through alterations in the DNA methylation process. The originality of the translational findings summarized here involves the identification of potential biomarkers for early diagnosis of the syndrome, in addition to the validation of a promising therapeutic avenue in a preclinical model of PCOS, which can improve the management of patients suffering from the syndrome.PMID:...
