Comparison of narrow-band imaging with autofluorescence imaging for endoscopic detection of squamous cell carcinoma of the tonsil
ConclusionsThe results show that AFI obtained better results for assessing the extent of tonsillar cancers than NBI. Both methods were proven to be equal in the visualization of endoscopic malignancy-determining signs. Both are useful even for less experienced evaluators. Dose planning study of proton versus photon radiotherapy for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma of unknown primary in the primary and recurrent setting
CONCLUSION: Omitting contralateral nCTV irradiation and mCTV irradiation will significantly reduce toxicity. The accumulated high dose volumes can be minimised using protons for re-irradiation. However, the use of protons for primary treatment provides limited benefit in most patients.PMID:37815913 | DOI:10.1080/0284186X.2023.2263156 (Source: Acta Oncologica)

Cancer incidence among visual artists: 45 years of follow-up in four Nordic countries
CONCLUSIONS: The non-elevated incidence of lung cancer suggests a similar prevalence of smoking between visual artists and the general population, while the elevated risk of cancers of mouth and pharynx among male visual artists is suggestive of more widespread alcohol drinking. The excess risk of urogenital cancers might be associated with exposure to solvents.PMID:37796162 | DOI:10.1080/0284186X.2023.2263150 (Source: Acta Oncologica)

< sup > 124 < /sup > I-labeled anti-CD147 antibody for noninvasive detection of CD147-positive pan-cancers: construction and preclinical studies
In conclusion, 124/125I-anti-CD147 displays high affinity to CD147, and represents potential for the imaging of CD147-positive tumors. The development of 124I-anti-CD147 may provide new insights into the regulation of tumor microenvironment and formulation of precision diagnosis and treatment programs for tumors.PMID:37749238 | DOI:10.1038/s41401-023-01162-y (Source: Acta Pharmacologica Sinica)

Pedicled thoracoacromial artery compound flaps for circumferential hypopharyngeal reconstruction
ConclusionsThe pedicled thoracoacromial artery compound flaps have stable blood supply and provide adequate muscle coverage for greater protection during radiotherapy, and the microsurgical skills have no requirement. Therefore, the compound flaps provide a good choice for the reconstruction of circumferential hypopharyngeal defect, especially in the aged or patients with comorbidities who are not able to tolerate prolonged surgery.
