Serum Colorectal Neoplasia Differentially Expressed Level and Prognostic Factors in Patients with RLNM of NPC
CONCLUSIONS: An abnormal increase in serum CRNDE can be a basis to diagnose RLNM in NPC patients. RLNM affected the long-term prognosis of NPC patients, and the number and diameter of lymph nodes and posterior pharyngeal metastasis were the factors affecting patients' long-term. The current study's findings can provide a reference for the realization of the early diagnosis of NPC RLNM, formulating the treatment schemes and improving the long-term survival outcome of NPC patients.PMID:37944952 (Source: Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine)

Longitudinal Analysis of Dysphagia and Factors Related to Postoperative Pneumonia in Patients Undergoing Esophagectomy for Esophageal Cancer
This study longitudinally analyzed the changes in the Modified Barium Swallow Study Impairment Profile (MBSImP ™) scores, swallowing kinematic measurements, and swallowing-related symptoms in patients undergoing esophagectomy. We also examined the association between identified swallowing impairment and aspiration pneumonia after surgery. We included consecutive patients who underwent esophagectomy and com pleted laryngoscopy and videofluoroscopy before, two weeks, and three months after surgery. We analyzed physiological impairments using the MBSImP. We also assessed the swallowing kinematics on a 5 mL thickened liquid...

Initial Evaluation and External Validation of 68Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT in Tubarial Gland Characterization
CONCLUSION: This study corroborates the existence of a conglomerate of glands in the nasopharynx roof, near the posterolateral pharyngeal recess. It serves as validation in a different population with similar results in previous research. Without 68GA-PSMA-11 PET/CT the abundance, configuration and potential clinical relevance of these glands would probably not have been identified. Radiotracer uptake was similar amongst the major salivary glands, with a more similar uptake to that shown by the sublingual gland.PMID:37913955 | DOI:10.1016/j.radonc.2023.109975 (Source: Radiotherapy and Oncology : journal of the European Soc...

Comprehensive exploration of Biochanin A as an oncotherapeutics potential in the treatment of multivarious cancers with molecular insights
Phytother Res. 2023 Oct 31. doi: 10.1002/ptr.8050. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCancer is considered a leading cause of mortality. This rising cancer death rate and several existing limitations like side effects, poor efficacies, and high cost of the present chemotherapeutic agents have increased the demand for more potent and alternative cancer treatments. This review elucidated a brief overview of Biochanin A (BCA) and its potentiality on various cancers with details of anticancer mechanism. According to our review, a number of studies including in silico, in vitro, pre-clinical, and clinical trials have tested to evalu...

Management of Unknown Primary Head and Neck Cancer with Radiation Therapy in the Era of Human Papillomavirus (HPV): No Longer Cutting Down the Tree to Get an Apple
CONCLUSIONS: Prospective evidence is lacking, and the available studies have been complicated by such factors as the relatively limited sample sizes, as well as the variability in work-up, treatment, inclusion criteria, and follow-up. Regardless, advances in science and technology have ushered in more precise approaches with a high degree of customization, particularly given the increased proportion of patients presenting with human papillomavirus-related disease.PMID:37844736 | DOI:10.1016/j.radonc.2023.109952 (Source: Radiotherapy and Oncology : journal of the European Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology)
