The construct validity and internal consistency of QuickDASH in pediatric patients with upper extremity fractures
CONCLUSION: QuickDASH demonstrated acceptable construct validity and good internal consistency and is thus a valid instrument, with some limitations, to assess disability and quality of life in pediatric patients with upper extremity fractures.PMID:38686529 | PMC:PMC11058482 | DOI:10.2340/17453674.2024.40181 (Source: Acta Orthopaedica)

Construction and Validation Study of a Model for Predicting the Risk of Pulmonary Complications in Elderly Patients with Multiple Rib Fractures
CONCLUSIONS: The column-line diagram model of pulmonary complications in patients with MRF constructed in this study showed good discriminative and calibration performance in both internal and external validation, which is helpful for clinicians to identify individuals at high risk of pulmonary complications as early as possible, and thus can be recommended for clinical use.PMID:38687856 (Source: Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine)

Preliminary Study: 3D Nailing for Intertrochanteric Femur Fractures
CONCLUSION: In both static compression and fatigue tests, 3DPFN exhibits significant biomechanical advantages over PFNA. This suggests that 3DPFN may be an excellent choice for the treatment of intertrochanteric fractures of the femur and holds further research value for development. Future studies may involve clinical trials to validate and refine the 3DPFN design based on the observed results and promote the advancement of orthopedic implant technology.PMID:38687858 (Source: Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine)

Long non-coding RNA H19 mediates osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells through the miR-29b-3p/DKK1 axis
This study aimed to explore the molecular mechanism of long non-coding RNA H19 in osteoporosis after SCI and provide new research directions for existing prevention strategies. We used small interfering RNA to knockdown H19 expression and regulated miR-29b-2p expression using miR-29b-3p mimetics and inhibitors. Western blotting, real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR, Alizarin red staining, alkaline phosphatase staining and double-luciferase reporter gene assays were used to assess gene expression, osteogenic ability and binding sites. lncRNA H19 was upregulated in BMSCs from the osteoporosis group, whereas miR-29b-3p was...

Vacuolar H+ ‐ATPase in Diabetes, Hypertension, and Atherosclerosis
ABSTRACTVacuolar H+-ATPase (V-ATPase) is a multisubunit protein complex which, along with its accessory proteins, resides in almost every eukaryotic cell. It acts as a proton pump and as such is responsible for regulating pH in lysosomes, endosomes, and the extracellular space. Moreover, V-ATPase has been implicated in receptor-mediated signaling. Although numerous studies have explored the role of V-ATPase in cancer, osteoporosis, and neurodegenerative diseases, research on its involvement in vascular disease remains limited. Vascular diseases pose significant challenges to human health. This review aimed to shed light on...
