I wish to express my thoughts regarding the recent publication titled “PAGE-B incorporating moderate HBV DNA levels predicts risk of HCC among patients entering into HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis B” 1. Chun et al. developed a new hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) risk prediction score (PAGED-B score) in non-cirrhotic treatment-naïve adult patients who started ant iviral therapy upon entering into hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg)-positive chronic hepatitis B from chronic infection which was found to have a high accuracy of predicting the 5-year risk of HCC. Effectiveness and Safety of Radiofrequency Ablation versus Liver Resection in the Treatment of Early-stage Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: During the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma, hepatectomy demonstrates superior clinical efficacy compared to radiofrequency ablation, particularly in its ability to control tumor recurrence. However, radiofrequency ablation presents with fewer complications and a higher level of safety.
