Mucosal CCL28 Chemokine Improves Protection against Genital Herpes through Mobilization of Antiviral Effector Memory CCR10+CD44+ CD62L-CD8+ T Cells and Memory CCR10+B220+CD27+ B Cells into the Infected Vaginal Mucosa
In this study, we investigated the role of the CCL28/CCR10 chemokine axis in mobilizing protective antiviral B and T cell subsets into the VM site of herpes infection. We report a significant increase in the frequencies of HSV-specific memory CCR10+CD44+CD8+ T cells, expressing high levels of CCR10, in herpes-infected asymptomatic (ASYMP) women compared with symptomatic women. Similarly, a significant increase in the CCL28 chemokine (a ligand of CCR10), was detected in the VM of herpes-infected ASYMP C57BL/6 mice, associated with the mobilization of high frequencies of HSV-specific effector memory CCR10+CD44+CD62L-CD8+ TEM...

Contemporary Trends in Cesarean Delivery Rates and  Indications
CONCLUSIONS: Despite changes in labor management definitions and guidelines encouraging vaginal birth, the rates of overall cesarean delivery did not decrease over time. The indications for delivery, particularly failed labor, repeat cesarean delivery, and malpresentation have not significantly changed over time.PMID:37216971 | DOI:10.1055/a-2097-1958 (Source: Herpes)

Knowledge, attitudes, and testing preferences for Herpes Simplex Virus infections among undergraduate students at a large university in Los Angeles, California
CONCLUSION: University students have low knowledge regarding genital herpes. Genital herpes education is needed to improve sexual health and wellness.PMID:37205777 | DOI:10.1080/07448481.2023.2194431 (Source: Herpes)

Transmission of the Herpes Simplex Virus in the Preclinical Phase of Disease Progression during Childbirth
JMA J. 2023 Apr 14;6(2):223-225. doi: 10.31662/jmaj.2022-0200. Epub 2023 Mar 13.ABSTRACTVertical transmission of the herpes simplex virus (HSV) in the preclinical phase of the disease progression is rare. Here, we present a case of perinatal-acquired herpes from an asymptomatic mother. Our findings suggest that clinicians should consider screening predisposed mothers for HSV as part of prenatal care to identify asymptomatic primary genital HSV infections.PMID:37179720 | PMC:PMC10169254 | DOI:10.31662/jmaj.2022-0200 (Source: Herpes)

Bacterial Vaginosis and Post-Operative Pelvic Infections
Healthcare (Basel). 2023 Apr 25;11(9):1218. doi: 10.3390/healthcare11091218.ABSTRACTBacterial vaginosis (BV) represents a condition in which the normal protective Lactobacilli, especially those that produce H2O2, are replaced by high quantities of facultative anaerobes, leading to gynecologic and obstetric post-operative complications. BV is an important cause of obstetric and gynecological adverse sequelae and it could lead to an increased risk of contracting sexually transmitted infections such as gonorrhea, genital herpes, Chlamydia, Trichomonas, and human immunodeficiency virus. Herein, we reviewed bacterial vaginosis ...
