UCF vs Creighton (PHX) vs SLU
Hello everyone. I'm a CA resident seeking some help on deciding between these 3 schools. I don't have an exact idea of which specialty I'm interested in, though I'd like to go somewhere with a chance to pursue something competitive if I decide to. UCF Pros Supportive environment and students and faculty seemed pretty happy Seems like they match well Was given 15k/year so total COA ends up being around 70k/year Research project built into curriculum Cons ... M2 just venting...
i think the last time i felt happy about my professional/career life was when i got into medical school. the problem isn't medicine as a profession or learning about it, but more about the people in medicine and the overall environment i've found myself in. the personalities are for the most part so weird (in a negative way), toxic, high-strung; and i have bad social anxiety that magnifies all this. the down-to-earth, laid-back, chill personalities are few and far between. i went to a large... The role of class rank in internship/residency
I am super curious to hear other people's opinions and experiences with class rank. A lot of schools that I considered this cycle have discontinued class rank. I am generally pretty happy to be going to a school without class rank, since I really dislike competitive environments, but I know that it plays a role (perhaps only a small role) in internship/residency placement. I am curious how important class rank really is to internship/residency, and how graduates from non-ranking schools have... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Switching gap year jobs right after applying?
I’ve been working as a scribe/MA for almost 6 months now and I was recently offered a scribe job at a different clinic that would start at the end of May (so I would have 8 months at my current job, >1000 hours). I really want to take it because my current job is becoming increasingly toxic. I’m always walking on eggshells with my boss and it’s causing me a ton of anxiety every day. This new job will be paying more and seems like a better environment, and it’ll also give me exposure to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Penn State vs. SLU vs. Temple vs. SUNY Buffalo
Pennsylvania State College of Medicine Pros > Low cost of living 1.5-year preclinical (established) Good research opportunities Really good match list Smaller class size Cons > Classes start in July Rural environment (middle of PA), patient population is not very diverse (?) Unranked so not super sure how it compares to other medical schools SUNY Buffalo Pros > Classes start in August Good/Diverse match list... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

UMich vs. USC Keck
Hi Y'all! I'm grateful to have options here but I'm honestly a bit overwhelmed trying to decide on a school, so any insight would be much appreciated! Both schools would be new environments for me although I currently live in a city. I’m not quite sure where I want to be for residency but unlikely the midwest (besides Chicago, potentially). At the moment, I’m interested in surgery, OBGYN, and internal medicine. Both schools have AOA as far as I know, although UMich’s clinical year is... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Penn vs. Vanderbilt vs. Northwestern
Thanks everyone for your input! I’m going to wait for financial aid to come out which probably will be my deciding factor. *currently unknown financial aid University of Pennsylvania Pros: Location - I've always wanted to live in a city and I like Philly alot, UPenn was my top choice for undergrad Prestige/resources/connections Global opportunities seem plentiful Cons: Grading system during clinical years is not P/F/ more competitive environment My faculty... Those who love their outpatient job
To those who love their outpatient job, what type of environment do you work in? Is it your own private practice? A well run, psychiatrist-owned private practice? A cash practice that serves the worried well? In residency, our main outpatient clinic was comprised of only 20% controlled substance seekers, who usually went elsewhere for goodies after a few visits. Otherwise, there was a lot of therapy involved, and I enjoyed the interactions with almost all my patients, who were actively... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Tennessee vs Tufts
Hi I have been so fortunate to be accepted to both Tuft and Tennessee, and I am having a hard time deciding where to go I would love to hear current students perspective to help me make my decision. In particular any information about the environment among the class (I really want to avoid a competitive environment) and the curriculum! My career focus is shelter medicine or possibly specialize in cardiology. I also would love to mentor high schoolers and undergraduates to get into veterinary... Colorado (OOS) vs. NYU
Colorado unfortunately will not offer me in-state tuition after a year so I believe a will still have to pay 400k+ in tuition. As someone who was born and raised in an urban environment, I have been to NYC multiple times and enjoyed it. I don't really know what to expect from Colorado, as I have never been there and my interview was on zoom. I love New York City, but is Colorado a better program/much cheaper even though I am out of state? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
