Inpatient Losing Its Appeal
Hello all, wanted to welcome other perspectives on this recent feeling I've been having about working inpatient. Throughout training and as an attending, I've always enjoyed inpatient work (the flow, the quick change in presentation, team environment, walking around vs sitting, etc). However, lately, a few things about working inpatient have changed its appeal to me: Whether it's the IMO noticeable decrease in competency in nursing, lack of professionalism (on cell phones whole shift... Considering Medical School
Hello, I am currently considering medical school. I graduated from a university in the US in 2019 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology. I then completed a Masters of Arts in Teaching degree in 2020 and have been teaching high school science (Biology, Environmental science, Integrated science) for the past 4 years. I am looking for advice on what steps I would need to take in order to get into med school and how long it would take me to get there. Since I have only begun... Stanford vs Vanderbilt (75% Scholarship)
Stanford (PSTP) Pros Strong fit with scientist/creative academic culture, could probably first author a cool project Prestige in and out of academia (dream school vibes) I thrive in unstructured environments and like the independence of their curriculum World leaders in my research field of interest, interdisciplinary projects encouraged Never lived on the west coast, and very much love nearby outdoors stuff, have friends in SF Slightly older students with... CWRU Dental school vs. USC Dental school
Hello everyone, I am an incoming D1 student! I am trying to decide between Case Western Reserve School of Dental Medicine and USC School of Dental Medicine. I know both schools have their ups and downs, but if any dental student knows anything in particular about these two schools, please comment! Other than the cost of tuition and living, which school is better? Things that are important for me: - supportive environment ( both students and faculty) - clinical experience - less depressing... Supportive colleagues in PP?
Been talking to a lot of people about PP and academics in IL. Anybody have a supportive environment in either one? Lot of it seems like fend for yourself. They don’t care if you make a mistake in a new place. Who has a good change without lot of judging and getting acclimated? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Does "resident advisor" count as clinical?
I would be working for a non-profit mental health company that provides housing and support services to individuals 18+ that have mental health diagnoses. In this position I would be assisting residents with daily living activities such as meal preperation and medication management. I would also be implementing behavior management systems to promote a safe and supportive environment. I'm trying to decide between this and Scribe America. EDIT: On google it is listed as a "Assisted living... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Can anyone give me some thoughts and advice?
Hey guys. I'm feeling pretty defeated. I am currently in nursing school, and 2 months away from graduating with my associates degree in nursing. Prior to nursing school, I had no direction in my life. Was just being a bum working odd jobs here and there. I'm 28 now and realized that I wanted to do medicine after being exposed to the clinical environment. Patient care is something I eventually learned to love, and honestly can't imagine myself doing anything else. I worked so hard in my... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

University of Glasgow BVMS - Looking for advice/insight
Hello everyone, I'm excited to share that I've recently received acceptance into the University of Glasgow's veterinary college. As an American student, I am reaching out to seek valuable insights from the current veterinary student community at Glasgow or those who have graduated recently. I am particularly interested in hearing about experiences with the curriculum, and how the ongoing challenges related to Covid have impacted the school environment—both positively and negatively... Seeking School List Advice
Stats 28 Male Non Traditional Colorado resident for 25 years with CU Anschutz being top choice of schools In undergrad I was a very unmotivated student: 3.1 GPA Environmental Science with a minor in Biology In 2021 I became an EMT with hopes of becoming a Paramedic and found myself interested in becoming a doctor. Asked a lot of questions about what being a Doctor entails and shadowed some ER docs and decided it was what I wanted to do (not necessarily EM). I went back to do a Post Bac I... Tufts vs. LIU
Hi everyone! I’ve been recently accepted to Tufts after being accepted to LIU (both OOS for me). I’m torn between the two and don’t know which environment would be best for me. I’m really big on student collaboration and value teamwork which is why I’m a little scared to commit to Tufts even though it’s my DREAM school. I’m scared that Tufts being a more established school, means a more competitive atmosphere. I also just don’t know the difference between the two areas as I haven’t been to... UCSF (OOS) vs UPenn
I want to choose a school with good clinical education and supportive environment. Both schools are far from home for me. I’m planning to be a GP for now, but I’m open to explore different specialities. I want to go straight to practice instead of doing GPR or AEGD if I end up choosing to do GP. UCSF has the pass fail honor system, and UPenn uses the GPA grading system (but maybe unranked?). Any advice would be appreciated! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

4 months of clinical experience?
Hello everyone! I am gearing up to apply to both MD and DO schools this summer, really excited! I recently started a clinical job in October, and to be honest, it makes me miserable. I've enjoyed helping my patients and learning about the actual clinical aspect of it, but the work environment is just so nasty, and I had a bad altercation with someone today that was completely uncalled for. I want to quit this job and work somewhere else. I started the end of October, and I want to put my... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
