Advice for a DPT applicant (summer '24 application cycle)
Hey all! I'm currently in the middle of my last year at college (at the University of Colorado Boulder) and I'm unsure of what to take in the spring. I am a slightly nontraditional applicant in the sense that I will graduate with a degree in Environmental Studies and a minor in Geography, I realized my interest in PT pretty late but made the switch and am almost done with my prerequisites. That said, between getting injured and needing to get surgery, working, and taking heavy course loads... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Lifestyle vs passion: psych or inpatient peds
Extremely down to the wire on this. Planning on maybe dual applying peds and psych (to do child psych). Have a passion for inpatient peds, but like child psych/adult psych enough to want to do it well. Peds pros: -Love inpatient work and the diversity of the cases -The kids often get better and the families for the most part are very grateful -Really great team environment, very positive environment overall -Always left in a good mood from the shift Peds cons: -Salary, have heard of... Biology Prerequisite
Filling out my secondary applications right now, and 3-4 of the schools I'm applying to specifically ask for 8 semester hours of "general biology". Given that I only have 4 credits from General Biology, despite having about a bajillion hours of genetics, microbio, biochem, environmental science, anatomy, and physiology, should I register for General Biology II this year to meet the prerequisites or should my other biology classes suffice? What does it take to match?
I'm a few years away from the match process, but I was wondering what you all think it takes to match into psych in today's environment? What should I be doing to give myself the best chances? What does the typical profile of a successfully matched applicant look like right now? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
