UCSF (OOS) vs UPenn
I want to choose a school with good clinical education and supportive environment. Both schools are far from home for me. I’m planning to be a GP for now, but I’m open to explore different specialities. I want to go straight to practice instead of doing GPR or AEGD if I end up choosing to do GP. UCSF has the pass fail honor system, and UPenn uses the GPA grading system (but maybe unranked?). Any advice would be appreciated! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

4 months of clinical experience?
Hello everyone! I am gearing up to apply to both MD and DO schools this summer, really excited! I recently started a clinical job in October, and to be honest, it makes me miserable. I've enjoyed helping my patients and learning about the actual clinical aspect of it, but the work environment is just so nasty, and I had a bad altercation with someone today that was completely uncalled for. I want to quit this job and work somewhere else. I started the end of October, and I want to put my... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

PCOM Philly vs NYITCOM (OW)
Hi All, I recently got into PCOM Philly and have been also accepted into NYITCOM Long Island. If anyone is able to provide some pros and cons as current students or have heard anything, I would really appreciate the insight. PCOM Philly Pros: - nice campus + friendly environment - close to home ~40 min - well established DO school with strong rotation sites and a great match list - in house residencies for competitive specialties - has the option to attend lecture in person (prefer... UVM Larner vs Dartmouth (Geisel)
Hello everyone, I wanted to post this thread to ask people about perceptions of these two schools and which they think might be the better fit for me in particular. What I value most about the programs is not ranking, prestige, etc, but student well-being, as well as location. For full transparency, I am from the South, and don't like the city life. I have lived rural before and prefer the community around rural environments, and college towns are my favorite (like Iowa City, or Burlington... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is this unethical behavior?
Have a patient who has a history of AUD. Has had relative sobriety over the last 4-5 months, only a handful of heavy drinking days. Says they went to detox (obviously not medically indicated) earlier this month following two days of moderate drinking. They frequently goes to detox for "fluids and a taper" when they are pushed to do so by family despite no medical indication. I also suspect there is an element of dependency which is met by the detox environment. At this most recent detox... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I did nothing - can it be made up for?
Title. For over a year after my graduation in 2020 (philosophy BA), I did essentially nothing. I can cite environmental factors, like COVID-19 and depression, or not having a car (or meaningful public transportation where I live), or the fact that I hadn't yet decided to switch tracks, but that doesn't change the fact that I did nothing. Furthermore, after starting a DIY postbacc, I moved at a glacial pace and studied only part-time for a few semesters without major extracurriculars on the... Transferring Schools for More Clinical Opportunities
Hi! I'm currently a first-year at my undergrad. I'm considering applying to transfer for the Fall of 2024 (my sophomore year). One of the main reasons is for more clinical opportunities. I currently go to a liberal arts institution in a rural environment and the nearest hospital doesn't do more than 8 hours of shadowing or volunteering. If I were to shadow or get any clinical experience, I would have to drive around an hour to a bigger city. EMS is not an option in the area and basically... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

penn state vs buffalo
I recently got off the waitlist for Penn state but have accepted my offer to Buffalo as well. My biggest concern is the type of environment each school is in. I definitely value a good education but also things around me that help me maintain a good work-life balance. There are more options for workout classes + yoga in buffalo in addition to a close proximity to grocery stores, public transit and a big city like Toronto fairly close by. Meanwhile it seems like there’s nothing close to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

UNLV vs OHSU (OOS for both)
I was accepted into UNLV and OHSU as an out of state resident for both (CA resident). I'm not quite sure which one I want to attend. I haven't visited OHSU because the interview was virtual, so I'm unfamiliar with facilities/ faculty/ student environment. Cost is also a huge factor for me tuition and cost of living so any info on that would be greatly appreciated. Any factors that will help me decide would be greatly appreciated! Corporate Prosthodontist
Any prosthodontists working for corporate office that can speak on salary, work load, and general environment? Interested in hearing about specialty chains like affordable dentures and implants, clearchoice, etc. Most of the info I've obtained about corporate offices is from a GP point of view of places like aspen, etc. or from an OMFS point of view for specialty chains. I'm curious what the restorative perspective is in specialty corporate offices. (Source: Student Doctor Network)
