US Malpractice environment reduces productivity
I'm just thinking with the shortage of docs, pressure at my last job was to see more and more patients. I would see follow ups for 30 minute appointments typically, never scheduling shorter appointments. My main anxiety was about missing something, not having time for crisis management, making a mistake, and ultimately malpractice claim and/or board complaint. Longer appointments IMO also means better care, for the above reasons. However, if risk of malpractice was removed and expectation as...

Case Western (OOS) VS Buffalo (OOS)
Hello! I’m Canadian and was set on going to Case until I recently just got off the waitlist for Buffalo. Please let me know if you have any insights on the school, students, faculty, and relocating to those cities. At the moment I’m not necessarily looking into specializing. Visited both schools and liked the environment at Case better.

Geisinger (GCSOM) vs New York Medical College (NYMC)
Just got off a waitlist and apparently have 24 hours to decide between these schools....Tuition is pretty much the same so that's out of the picture as a factor. If anyone has any personal insights for either school (research, clerkships, etc), please share! Any help would be appreciated.
Geisinger
Pros
smaller class size (~105)
true pass fail
closer to home (1.5-2 hour drive)
seems to have a very supportive and close knit environment
Cons
seem to be highly...

UCR vs. Rush (HELP ME PICK A SCHOOL!!!)
I have had the honor to have been accepted to both med schools. But now I have trouble deciding between the two. Below are my thoughts on both UCR and Rush.
Finances:
- For UCR, I got a scholarship to cover half of the tuition so that I only have to pay about 20k a year. (for Rush, I received at 15k scholarship for an 80k tuition. So if I pick rush I would be in so much debt)
Support system/environment:
- For UCR, my friends and family are nearby: It would be great because I...

Marijuana and procedures
Hey all, wondering what your practices are for THC use and procedures in a recreationally legal environment. Do you have a hold schedule or cancel policy? Sedated v non-sedated procedures?
Thanks (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How to spot political and religious culture of residency programs?
As someone who has had 9 jobs in his life, I understand that the majority of work environments have a political leaning culture. Whether that’s woke/liberal/PC or conservative/religious, there is usually some sort of culture and it can cause a lot of friction. Now I pride myself on being a team player and getting along with everyone and I don’t lean that heavily on either side of the political spectrum. However, I do find it distracting and difficult to be in a work environment where a...

T5 vs T20 MSTP Difference?
Hi everyone! Recently I was accepted into a T5 and T20 MSTP program and wanted to know if there would be a difference in the programs for future competitive residencies. The programs in question are UChicago Pritzker and UPenn MSTP. I really love Pritzker so far for a multitude of reasons, but I can definitely feel a difference in prestige from people since Pritzker seems to not be a T10 program. I know I can succeed in either environment, but I don't want to turn down a bump for residency...
