Advice needed; switching to PM & R
2020 grad from an average MD school. Applied to gas and matched to a good program. Completed intern year and now have a strong desire to switch to PM&R. Finding myself disliking gas and being too stressed out in the OR environment. I know it is crazy and I should have figured that out before, but it is what it is right now and I can't go back in time to change it. Home school had no PM&R department, so no rotation. Attempted to get PMR rotation in 4th year and intern year but unable due to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Work experience application form
In conclusion, I feel that I have built strong foundations for a career in medicine through showcasing a keen interest in both the internal workings of the human body and providing good patient care. My academic skills in accordance with my enthusiasm for education should allow me to enjoy a degree and life-long endeavour in medicine. Therefore, a work experience placement, in a clinical environment, will be an invaluable experience in teaching me more about my chosen field. (Source: The Student Room)

Pharmacist Diet Thread
Title says it all...just curious what others are doing...there's just so many factors to consider (personal health, climate/weather, costs, macronutrient/kcal goals, micronutrient goals, vitamin/mineral goals, food volume, variety in food groups consumed/balance, equipment, digestion, etc.) Thinking of refining my diet with more emphasis on frugality and environment (plan on investing in an air fryer)...mostly frozen fruits and vegetables with fish (budget versions of oysters and salmon... WAMC? any advice please
I'm a 23 year old female applying for the first time this application cycle. I am from PA and finishing up my Master's degree in Earth and Environmental Science in May of 2022. I had quite a few personal/family issues during undergrad, resulting in a very low science GPA. My last few semesters have pretty much been all As, but I'm still anxious about GPA and prerequisites not being quite there yet. Cumulative GPA: 3.45 Science GPA: 2.84 Last 45: 3.68 Any degrees achieved: B.S. in... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I just got diagnosed with this...
Hi there, I just got diagnosed with a intellectual disability diagnosis where the psychologist has requested accommodations for me including visual aids, extra time on assignments/quizzes/exams, continually speaking with a learning strategist, movement breaks, reduced testing distraction to test in a quiet low stimuli environment, etc. My psychiatrist and psychologist both approve of these accommodations, and now want to get me medicated a well known stimulant. In grad school, I got decent... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Nontrad MEDEVAC Pilot/ U of M SMP help
Hello! I'm currently serving overseas as a MEDEVAC helicopter pilot with the Army National Guard. Due to my close interactions with paramedics and providers that I fly and work with, I have become quite interested in pursuing a career in medicine. Here is a little bit about myself: West Point grad with 2.58 GPA (graduated about a decade ago) Environmental Sciences Major 33 years old Since I have a super low GPA, seems like an SMP is a good place for me to start. Leave the USA??
For a lot of reasons - the state of EM and American medicine as a whole, sociologic changes, economic/tax burdens - the US is losing its appeal to me as a place to live long term. I don't see huge benefit to continued exposure to the environment of EM, while paying huge marginal dollars into a tax system that largely does not benefit me. I don't think the US holds the same position in the world as it did ~50 yrs ago, and I foresee continued erosion of western society. Now, realistically... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Clinical Experience
Hi, I'm a rising Junior and I have realized I have NO clinical experience whatsoever. While yes COVID affected me from Spring of Freshman year to this date and medical schools might be understanding, I believe I owe it to myself to be hands-on in a clinical environment which shows me what I love and know I enjoy from having shadowed doctors. What I would say is I'm not sure what clinical experience opportunities there are. I know a typical one is a scribe, but as a student who is full... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Pitt (OOS) vs. Iowa (OOS) vs. BU vs. Louisville (OOS)
Hi Everyone! I am struggling with deciding between these schools. I am familiar with all three of the locations, except Louisville. I am also concerned about cost of living! I was grateful to be given scholarships at Iowa, Pitt and BU! I would prefer to attend school at a supporting and non-competitive environment. I also would like to be done after dental school, I do not want to be in a position where I need to apply for a GPR. I would really appreciate it if anyone could give their input... Medical Can I rescind offer of acceptance to a medical school after formally agreeing to matriculate?
Hello, I applied to medical school for the 2020-2021 cycle. I only applied to 7 schools in total, and only programs I was absolutely passionate about. I was rejected from 4 schools, haven't heard back from 1, and was waitlisted by 2 (School 1 and School 2). One of the schools I was waitlisted at was my top choice of school (School 1) as everything about the school, the curriculum, the location, the environment, really appealed to me. Last week, I was offered acceptance from the waitlist of... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
