How common are "malignant" radiology programs?
From talking to PDs and other applicants, "malignancy" in radiology mostly relates to being overworked but it seems that truly malignant, unfriendly environments are pretty rare in this field. I've been told that even the most malignant radiology program is probably going to be easier than the most benign surgery program. Do you find this to be true or are there some genuinely awful places to train? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Job search advice for a Heme/Onc fellow
Hello everyone, second year heme/onc fellow without a visa requirement here. I am looking for advice about the upcoming job search. Any information would be appreciated. Looking for a private practice or hybrid practice job. Hesitant to consider academia(but open to hearing opinions). My understanding as far as looking for a job would be to consider three main competing things: compensation, location, and work environment. It seems reasonable to expect two of these three aspects of... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Job security
I am a PGY3 that will be starting my first job in August. I have been looking into picking up shifts at surrounding hospitals so that I can get some experience in different environments while also making some extra money. What is the best to find these opportunities? Cold calling? Recruiters? Locums agencies? TIA (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Need advice: accept a new job to become a clinical research coordinator or should I keep my current job? Thanks!
Hi Everyone! I need some advice... so I received an offer to work as a clinical research coordinator, however I would like to know how impressive would this look on my application? I will be a non-trad applicant this year applying both MD and DO. I've worked as a scientist in a non-clinical environment for over 5 years. So the majority of my work experience is NON-clinical. I have 55 hours shadowing, 265 hours scribing (clinical experience), 80 hours of hospital volunteering and 48 hours... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Low GPA
So my GPA is low. I am a chemistry major with a double minor in Environmental science and Religion. I have completed my environmental science minor and will finish my religion minor in Spring 2021. By Fall 2021 I would have completed my entire degree. My GPA at the school I am attending is a 3.22 (I am still awaiting some grades to come in for Fall 2020). My major GPA is a 2.59. I have 24 transfer credits with a GPA of 3.87. I need to boost my overall and science GPA. Below are my grade for... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How to stay content with acceptances despite outside pressure
Hi all, I recently received news of three acceptances, two to relatively local public medical schools and one to my top choice since making my school list at the beginning of the cycle, a T20 medical school in the perfect location with a mission that aligns exactly with my own career goals and has the collaborative environment and the diversity in both student body and leadership that I was looking for. I felt and still feel incredibly grateful for this opportunity to become a physician; I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Unsure what to do next?
Hi everyone! First time posting, hope this is the right place! So I am a 24 y/o who officially graduated in 2019 with a bio degree from a smaller university. I changed my major from environmental science to bio my sophomore year and up until my junior year I did terrible. But, I found my motivation and made a turn around then and even making the deans list in my last semester of senior year. Unfortunately though my GPA was still not the best graduating with a overall 2.67 cGPA and a 2.72... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

OHSU (IS) vs. WesternU
Hello SDN, I have asked many people about this question, and it would seem like an obvious answer to them; however, I am still torn between these two schools. Yes, cost is a major factor. I have compared the cost between the two schools, and it is looking at a difference of $100K+. Besides cost, I want to know your opinions on each school and which has a better dental program. I have lived in Oregon all my life, and I feel like now is the chance to explore a new environment, but that does... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Pitt (OOS) v Iowa (OOS) v BU v Louisville (OOS)
Hi Everyone! I am struggling with deciding between these schools. I am familiar with all three of the locations, except Louisville. I am also concerned about cost of living! I was grateful to be given scholarships at Iowa, Pitt and BU! I would prefer to attend school at a supporting and non-competitive environment. I also would like to be done after dental school, I do not want to be in a position where I need to apply for a GPR. I would really appreciate it if anyone could give their input... Dental Environments
I’m just curious as to where all dentists are able to practice and if it depends on whether or not they are a specialist as well as what is expected given the environment/responsibility? Pretty common to hear private practice and DSOs but what about other settings? Nonprofits, clinics, small medical centers, hospitals, group practices.. what options are there for people who may not want to own a practice or jump into a corporation? what’s expected and what will it affect? I still have an... Dental Environments (Source: Student Doctor Network)
