Risk of Iron Deficiency in Women With Endometriosis: A Population-Based Prospective Cohort Study
Endometriosis may be linked to the risk of iron deficiency through chronic systemic inflammation or heavy menstrual bleeding. No longitudinal studies, however, have examined the relationship between endometriosis and the risk of iron deficiency. (Source: Womens Health Issues)

Endometriosis in infertile women: an observational and comparative study of quality of life, anxiety, and depression
A women ’s chances of getting pregnant decreases in cases of infertility, which may have several clinical etiologies. The prevalence of infertility is estimated as 10–15% worldwide. One of the causes of inferti... (Source: BMC Women's Health)

Current status of fertility preservation in a Spanish tertiary public hospital: multidisciplinary approach and experience in over 1500 patients
ConclusionsThe increase in FP treatment reflects the implementation of reproductive counselling in oncology programmes. A multidisciplinary approach in a tertiary public hospital allows individualised FP treatment for each patient. In recent years, there has been a change in trend with the introduction of new indications for FP and a change in techniques due to their optimisation. (Source: Clinical and Translational Oncology)

Molecular mechanism of autophagy and apoptosis in endometriosis: Current understanding and future research directions
CONCLUSION: Endometriotic cells may have acquired antiapoptotic mechanisms through unique intrinsic and extrinsic autophagy pathways to survive in changing environments.PMID:38645639 | PMC:PMC11031673 | DOI:10.1002/rmb2.12577 (Source: Reproductive Biology)

To drain or not to drain: A propensity score analysis of abdominal drainage after colorectal surgery for endometriosis
Bowel endometriosis is one of the most severe forms of deep endometriosis (DE) affecting 5  % to 12 % of patients with endometriosis [1]. The colorectum is involved in up to 85 % of patients with bowel endometriosis [2]. Surgery is an option for women experiencing pain and/or infertility after failure of medical treatment or when an organ function is compromised, such as hydronephro sis or digestive stenosis [3]. The SPRI determination of cathepsin L and S in plasma and peritoneal fluid of women with endometriosis
CONCLUSIONS: Based on the results of this study, it appears that cathepsins L and S are not suitable candidates as biomarkers for endometriosis.PMID:38642611 | DOI:10.1016/j.advms.2024.04.004 (Source: Advances in Medical Sciences)

Regarding “A call for new theories on the pathogenesis and pathophysiology of Endometriosis”
I read the opinion article by Abott and the Endometriosis Initiative Group with interest [1]. Grand challenges in endometriosis remain – why is developing new drugs for endometriosis sometimes elusive? Why are fertility and pain outcomes different depending on the patient's race, ethnicity or within the same group [2]? (Source: The Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology)

Plastic-related Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals Significantly Related to the increased Risk of Estrogen-dependent Diseases in Women
CONCLUSION: Increased serum, urinary, or dietary concentration of MBzP and MEHP in women is significantly associated with endometriosis risk. Increased cadmium concentration is associated with endometrial cancer risk.PMID:38640992 | DOI:10.1016/j.envres.2024.118966 (Source: Environmental Research)

The effect of GnRH-a on the angiogenesis of endometriosis
CONCLUSIONS: GnRH-a administration does affect some pathways of angiogenesis in endometriotic lesions, but not all of them. Therefore, supplementary treatments that affect the SP1 pathway of angiogenesis should be developed to enhance the antiangiogenetic effect of GnRH-a in patients with endometriosis.TRIAL REGISTRATION: Clinicaltrial.gov ID: NCT06106932.PMID:38639888 | DOI:10.1007/s42000-024-00559-6 (Source: Hormones)

“Robot-assisted partial cystectomy for deep infiltrating endometriosis of the bladder with the Hugo RAS system”.
Involvement of the lower urinary tract is found in 0.2-2.5% of all deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE)1,2. The bladder is the most affected organ with a prevalence of up to 80% of cases3. Patients with bladder endometriosis are often symptomatic (dysuria, hyperactive bladder, recurrent urinary tract infections and hematuria). Surgery is the gold standard treatment for this condition when medical therapy fails1,2. Several studies have shown the feasibility, effectiveness, and safety of the laparoscopic approach4 but data about robotic-assisted approach are missing in literature. Saliva-based microRNA diagnostic signature for the superficial peritoneal endometriosis phenotype
Patients with superficial peritoneal endometriosis (SPE) present with symptoms suggestive of endometriosis but clinical and imaging exams are inconclusive. Consequently, laparoscopy is usually necessary to confirm diagnosis. The present study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of microRNAs (miRNAs) to diagnose patients with SPE from the ENDOmiARN cohort (Source: European Journal of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Biology)
