4. A Case of Very Large Endometrioma in an Adolescent without Associated Mullerian Anomaly
Recent literature demonstrates the presence of advanced endometriosis in teens. However, there are limited publications describing large endometriomas in adolescents. This case report presents a large complex ovarian mass, found to be an endometrioma on initial surgery. Further surgery was required for optimal treatment of the disease. Cytokine and chemokine profiles in women with endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, and unexplained infertility
Cytokine. 2024 Mar 30;178:156588. doi: 10.1016/j.cyto.2024.156588. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTNumerous factors (including immunological, congenital, hormonal, and morphological disorders) can lead to infertility. In this regard, 3 specific diseases associated with infertility are discussed in this review study (i.e., polycystic ovary syndrome [PCOS], endometriosis [EMS], and unexplained infertility [UI]). PCOS is a common endocrine disorder characterized by chronic low-grade inflammation, and EMS is a benign disease characterized by the presence of ectopic endometrial tissue. UI refers to couples who are unable to conce...

Effectiveness and complication rates of high intensity focused ultrasound treatment for abdominal wall endometriosis: A systematic review
Eur J Obstet Gynecol Reprod Biol. 2024 Mar 26;297:15-23. doi: 10.1016/j.ejogrb.2024.03.029. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn this review, a systematic literature search on the effectiveness and complication rates of ultrasound-guided and magnetic resonance-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound (USg-/MRgHIFU) for abdominal wall endometriosis (AWE) was conducted in six databases in May/June 2023. Original articles of (non)randomized trials, cohort studies, case-control studies and case series published in peer-reviewed journals were included. Of the included studies the level of evidence (LoE) and methodological quality u...

A Meta-analysis of the Efficacy and Safety of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Treating Endometriosis
CONCLUSION: The meta-analysis results confirmed that TCM treatment exhibited better efficacy in managing endometriosis, resulting in higher pregnancy rates, lower abortion rates, and a reduced probability of adverse reactions. These findings not only hold promise for improving the overall quality of life for patients but also offer practical implications for clinicians. The positive outcomes suggest that integrating TCM into endometriosis management could be considered as part of a comprehensive approach to enhance treatment effectiveness and minimize adverse effects, thereby providing clinicians and patients with valuable...
