Colorectal endometriosis. A proposal of complementary classification and surgical management in stages
CONCLUSIONS: We suggest a sequence of colorectal surgical management in stages according to the staging of the disease and we hope that this work will be followed by joint efforts to test it prospectively in order to compare results between hospital centers and make planned decisions.PMID:38537245 | DOI:10.24875/CIRU.23000251 (Source: Cirugia y Cirujanos)

Causal effects of glycemic traits and endometriosis: a bidirectional and multivariate mendelian randomization study
Observational studies have suggested an association between endometriosis and glycemic traits, but causality remains unclear. We used bidirectional and multivariate Mendelian randomization (MR) to examine the ... (Source: Diabetology and Metabolic Syndrome)

Efficacy and safety of dienogest in the treatment of deep infiltrating endometriosis: A meta-analysis
Deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) refers to endometriosis (EMs) with an infiltration depth greater than or equal to 5  mm. It is an invasive disease that involves the uterosacral ligament, the excavatio rectouterina, vaginal vault, vaginal-rectal septum, rectum, colon wall, bladder wall, and the ureter. DIE can cause evident chronic pelvic pain, dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, dysuria, non-menstrual pelvic pain, local bleeding, and the obstruction of vital organs. EMs affects about 10 % of women of childbearing age. (Source: European Journal of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Biology)

The kisspeptin system in and beyond reproduction: exploring intricate pathways and potential links between endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome
AbstractEndometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) are two common female reproductive disorders with a significant impact on the health and quality of life of women affected. A novel hypothesis by evolutionary biologists suggested that these two diseases are inversely related to one another, representing a pair of diametrical diseases in terms of opposite alterations in reproductive physiological processes but also contrasting phenotypic traits. However, to fully explain the phenotypic features observed in women with these conditions, we need to establish a potential nexus system between the reproductive system and...

Rare but Still There: A Scoping Review on Endometriosis-Associated Ovarian Cancer
Discov Med. 2024 Mar;36(182):467-481. doi: 10.24976/Discov.Med.202436182.44.ABSTRACTEndometriosis is a medical condition affecting at least up to 10% of women of reproductive age. This condition occurs when ectopic endometrial glands and stroma implant outside the uterus and there are several theories regarding the underlying origins of the disease. Endometriosis is one of the major causes of severe dysmenorrhoea, chronic pelvic pain and infertility. While endometriosis is generally a non-malignant condition, it rarely may transform into an invasive cancer, and increase the risk for epithelial ovarian cancer, notably endom...
