Viruses, Vol. 16, Pages 444: The Prevalence of Tick-Borne Encephalitis Virus in Wild Rodents Captured in Tick-Borne Encephalitis Foci in Highly Endemic Lithuania
This study shows that wild rodents are suitable sentinel animals to confirm TBEV foci. In addition, the study results demonstrate that sample cultivation in cell culture is a highly efficient method for increasing TBEV viral load to detectable quantities. (Source: Viruses)

The T1-weighted/T2-weighted ratio as a biomarker of anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis
Conclusions The T1w/T2w ratio detects microstructural changes in grey and white matter of patients with NMDAR encephalitis that correlate with cognitive performance. Computable from conventional clinical MRI sequences, this measure shows promise in bridging the clinico-radiological dissociation in NMDAR encephalitis and could serve as an imaging outcome measure in clinical trials. An Autopsy-proven Case-based Review of Autoimmune Encephalitis
This report emphasizes the pivotal role of pathological examination in the diagnosis of AIE, especially when serological autoantibody testing is not available or when a patient is suspected of having multiple diseases.PMID:38471800 | DOI:10.5607/en23036 (Source: Atherosclerosis)

A rare case of chikungunya encephalitis and its management: A case report and literature review
Key Clinical MessageChikungunya encephalitis, though rare, warrants clinical attention due to its severe complications. Early identification and appropriate management are crucial for improved outcomes in patients with this rare manifestation of chikungunya virus (CHIKV) infection.AbstractCHIKV infection is commonly associated with fever and joint pains, but neurological complications such as encephalitis are rare. Here, we present a unique case of confirmed chikungunya encephalitis in a 12-year-old male exhibiting atypical neurological symptoms. The diagnostic journey involved comprehensive neuroimaging and serological in...

Bickerstaff encephalitis in childhood: a review of 74 cases in the literature from 1951 to today
Bickerstaff brainstem encephalitis (BBE) is a rare autoimmune disease characterized by the subacute onset of bilateral external ophthalmoplegia, ataxia, and decreased level of consciousness. BBE is part of a group of rare autoimmune diseases in children that can affect the nervous system at any level. The onset of neurological deficits is often sudden and nonspecific. The diagnosis is based on clinical findings and abnormal findings on cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), electroencephalography (EEG), electromyography (EMG), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). BBE is associated with the presence of the antiganglioside antibody, an...
