Self-reported competence among advanced practice nursing students in Denmark, Finland and Norway: a cross-sectional multicentre study
The health care systems in the Nordic countries and worldwide are under pressure due to increased longevity and a shortage of nurses. Providing nurses with a high level of education, such as advanced practice ... (Source: BMC Nursing)

The effect of graded activity and pain education after lumbar spinal fusion on sedentary behavior 3 and 12 months post-surgery: a randomized controlled trial
CONCLUSION: Compared with usual care, GAPE had no effect on short-term changes in sedentary behaviour but GAPE had a statistically, but possibly not clinically effect on sedentary behaviour 12 months after LSF. Further, the behavioural intervention was safe to perform.PMID:38685291 | DOI:10.1016/j.apmr.2024.04.005 (Source: Health Physics)

Clusters from chronic conditions in the Danish adult population
by Anders Stockmarr, Anne Fr ølich Multimorbidity, the presence of 2 or more chronic conditions in a person at the same time, is an increasing public health concern, which affects individuals through reduced health related quality of life, and society through increased need for healthcare services. Yet the structure of chronic cond itions in individuals with multimorbidity, viewed as a population, is largely unmapped. We use algorithmic diagnoses and the K-means algorithm to cluster the entire 2015 Danish multimorbidity population into 5 clusters. The study introduces the concept of rim data as an additional tool for det...

Information on Measles, Mumps and Rubella Vaccine in the Copenhagen School Health Records Register
CONCLUSIONS: The CSHRR covers a large share of the Danish population and includes detailed vaccine information. By linking the data to other registry data, the updated CSHRR is valuable resource for future research.PMID:38679814 | DOI:10.1177/14034948241247882 (Source: Scandinavian Journal of Public Health)

Hsp70 Knockdown in the Brine Shrimp Artemia franciscana: Implication on Reproduction, Immune Response and Embryonic Cuticular Structure
Mar Biotechnol (NY). 2024 Apr 29. doi: 10.1007/s10126-024-10318-8. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe potential functional role(s) of heat shock protein 70 (Hsp70) in the brine shrimp, Artemia franciscana, a crucial crustacean species for aquaculture and stress response studies, was investigated in this study. Though we have previously reported that Hsp70 knockdown may have little or no impact on Artemia development, the gestational survival and number of offspring released by adult females were impaired by obscuring Hsp70 synthesis. Transcriptomic analysis revealed that several cuticle and chitin synthetic genes were downr...

Treatment patterns of antidepressants in children and adolescents in Scandinavia
AbstractThe aim of this study was to examine variations in use of antidepressants among children and adolescents in the three Scandinavian countries (Sweden, Norway, and Denmark). We identified new users of antidepressants (5 –17 years) during 2007–2018 and described the annual incidence rate, treatment duration, concomitant psychotropic drug use, and the clinical setting of the prescribing physician (in Sweden and Denmark). Incident use of antidepressants increased by a factor 1.9 in Sweden, 1.3 in Norway and decre ased by a factor 0.6 in Denmark during the study period. In Sweden, 58% of antidepressant users were co...

“I felt like a little kind of jolt of energy in my chest”: embodiment in learning in continuing professional development for general practitioners
In this study, we aimed to explore general practitioners ’ (GPs’) learning experiences during CPD from an embodiment perspective, studying the appearance of elements of embodiment—the body, actions, emotions, cognition, and interactions with the surroundings and others—to build an explanatory structure of embodiment in learning. We drew on the con cepts of embodied affectivity and mutual incorporation to frame our understanding of embodiment. Four Danish and three Canadian GPs were interviewed to gain insight into specific learning experiences; the interviews and the analysis were inspired by micro-phenomenology, a...

Enhanced autopsy triage (EA-Triage) in drug-related deaths: integrating quick toxicological analysis and postmortem computed tomography
The objective was to assess the diagnostic accuracy of an enhanced autopsy triage (EA-Triage) setup consisting of postmortem computed tomography (PMCT), simulated quick toxicological analysis (sQTA), external examination, and case information in determining cause of death (COD) in persons with past or current use of illegal drugs (drug-related deaths). Information on drug-related deaths selected for medico-legal autopsy in 2020 –2021 at the Department of Forensic Medicine, Aarhus University, Denmark, was analyzed retrospectively. The included cases underwent conventional autopsy, PMCT, and systematic toxicological analys...
