Association of cancer with functional decline at old age: a longitudinal study in Danish twins
DISCUSSION: Cancer was associated with hand grip strength functional decline in old individual twins and discordant pairs. Our results strengthen the importance of comprehensive geriatric assessment in older adults with cancer, as well as the importance of routine assessment of functional status. Promoting physical activity through exercise training programmes could enable the prevention of functional decline in older adults with cancer.PMID:38570302 | DOI:10.1177/14034948241240823 (Source: Scandinavian Journal of Public Health)

Beyond diagnosis: investigating hospital referral impact on biological treatment initiation, hospital admission, and surgery patterns in inflammatory bowel disease - a Danish population based study
CONCLUSIONS: Based on the findings of this population-based study, we found no evidence that the referral area had a significant impact on the duration from diagnosis to the initiation of biological treatment, hospital admissions, or surgery. However, the data suggested that fewer patients with luminal Crohn's disease were referred to biologics from Non-Academic Hospitals.PMID:38567864 | DOI:10.1080/00365521.2024.2337829 (Source: Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology)

Risk of depression and anxiety in 7.302 patients with sarcoidosis: a nationwide cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: Sarcoidosis cases had a higher risk of A/D compared with matched comparators during 18 years of follow-up. The risk of developing A/D was greater for male and female cases and within all age-groups compared with the matched comparators.PMID:38567557 | DOI:10.36141/svdld.v41i1.15213 (Source: Sarcoidosis Vasculitis and Diffuse Lung Diseases)
