collaborative care contract work
Hello. I'm thinking of doing some contract work in collaborative care. The org I'd work for roughly follows the U Washington model (registry based recommendations with a master's level therapist/care manager intermediary between psychiatry and PCP; recommendations passed along, no direct clinical contact w/ patients). I'm not sure how much I should realistically ask for as the "billing" is not based on CPT codes/payer mix, but whatever potential savings/increased psychiatric access the... Medical Directorship
I'm currently doing inpatient work at a small-ish community hospital. Also do a bit of ECT, IOP/PHP and C&L coverage. (I know, that's a lot...) I'm going through a contract renegotiation discussion with hospital admin now. My contract would otherwise expire this coming summer. In the contract renewal, they want to add a role as an "associate medical director" for the psych department. We're a small group and a lean operation (2 FT docs, 5 PT docs, and one FT midlevel). We already have a... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Employee Agreements in an At Will State (IL, CA)
So for the anesthesiologists out there running groups in an AT WILL employment state (Illinois, Cali): 1. How do you structure the contract language so that people have something to lose if they don't give 90-120 day notice? 2. Since PTO accrued is something paid out even if they leave in the middle of the day, do you minimize PTO and offer some other kind of retention/vesting pay? This is to deal with the flakes these days in the labor crunch. Don't care if you give a proper notice and... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Urgent care
Wondering if anyone has MGMA 2021 data for year 2020 for urgent care. I'm up for contract renewal for a fairly large health system in the south. Non academic. Have several years experience. The other docs that already had contract renewal were low balled, in my opinion, and didn't negotiate much. Less than MGMA median according to the 2019 data I found. Obviously they want cheap labor but I will be paid fair market value or I plan to jet out of there. so if anyone has some info , would... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Negotiating Contracts
Hello, I have been recently tasked with negotiating contracts on behalf of my group with payors. What kind of metrics do you guys use to demonstrate value to the payors? It seems they have all the leverage and information. Than you in advance. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Medical school handbook — suggestions, or legally binding contract?
Say a school handbook provides specific protections for students. If a faculty from a school continuously violates those protections the handbook mandates, with the student continuously pointing out these violations, and after repeated violations the faculty admits they violated the handbook and stops these harassing actions. Say the student suffers extremely serious personal and professional consequences because of these repeated violations. Could this be considered in court, either during... Breaking Contract with Insurance Companies?
Long story short. I joined a practice that is in the process of credentialing me. I have only been approved for several insurance companies. The practice utilized a credentialing company to get me started. I now am considering starting my own practice and leaving the current practice. I was told in the beginning from the credentialing agency that they would not be using my individual NPI, but instead the group's NPI number. I however have found out that Cigna and Medicare do not care which... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

First time applicant from SC this cycle, WAMC?
Hi everyone! I am a 21 year old first time applicant to vet school and I am SO nervous. I was wondering if anybody could give me any insight regarding my chances of getting an acceptance this cycle. I got an interview invite from LMU on 10/1 and I had my interview on 10/25. I think it went well, but it is very hard to tell and I am REALLY hoping to get an early acceptance in December. Applied to: UGA (contract seat opportunity), Mississippi State (contract seat opportunity) Lincoln... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Thoughts on first contract
Have an offer for my first academic hospitalist gig out of residency; in a major metro area in the NE. Curious to hear thoughts about the offer. My hesitancy is salary given VHCOL, however, the gig itself does lend itself to the lower pay given the better lifestyle. Salary: 230 base w/o incentives/bonus. 1800/shift for days, 2100 for nights with ample moonlighting opportunity. Benefits: 5% contribution to 403b, 2wks PTO with 1wk CME 7/7 model with a hard rounding cap of 15 with an avg of... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Hospital Group Contract
Hey guys, current fellow here. Will be receiving a contract soon from a large hospital organization. I suspect the majority of the contract is the same for all physicians within the system, regardless of speciality but I could be wrong. Aside from compensation, bonus structure, and non-compete clause, what are other things you all think are important to tease out in a contract? Any tips/pearls about negotiation specifically with a big hospital system? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Legal precedent?
In short, middle aged woman gets a scope by GI with propofol sedation. 8 hours later she signs a legal contract which is notarized. 3 years later she’s claiming that the contract is not valid because she had received anesthesia. The notary (who was also a family friend) testified that they remember her not acting out of the ordinary that day. Patient also remembers details of the encounter where the contract was signed. Is there a legal precedent for something like this? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

AMGA Compensation Data
I'm in contract negotiation with a hospital group and the base salary they're offering me sounds low based on MGMA data. When I brought this up they said they base their pay on the median on AGMA. I guess AGMA more accurately represents larger organizations. Does anyone have AGMA data for interventional pain? Ideally 2021 data. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

gem
Hi all, I'm writing to let this community know that my group is looking to hire. I am a mid-career anesthesiologist, and during my career I have worked in a number of settings, big/small, academic/private, urban/suburban. My current practice is a gem. We are private, MD-owned, and relatively small (~10 docs and ~20 crnas). The practice has the contract at a community hospital (Ortho, OB, Bariatrics, General, Vascular, Endo, no hearts, no crani, no pedi, no trauma) near Hartford CT...
