PP offer - please advise
I am currently a hospital employee, a few years out BC. I work in a small town (no prior connections here, no family, etc). The practice is good with new machines, good support staff, good morale among department, I do a lot of SBRT/SRS/IMRT. I am paid well at MGMA median. I recently met with a solo rad onc owner in a top large metro where I have friends and family. He operates two practices, bills globally and pays rent to the hospital. He offered me a contract to work for him as an... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Signing bonus at the time of starting?
I am in fellowship and am planning to sign for a job 16 months in advance of start date. The employer is offering a $30k signing bonus plus a $15k total residency stipend (stipend is divided and paid monthly from the time of signing the contract to the start of the job). However, the employer says the signing bonus of $30k is given with my first paycheck and not at the time of signing. Is this common? Shouldn't signing bonuses be given at the time of signing and would it not defeat the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How early can you sign a contract?
4th year. About to start residency. While on elective medicine and private practice rotation at one location, I have been told multiples times that they want me to come back there to work for them after I am done with residency. I have personally met the CEO of the hospital and the CMO. Both were very welcoming and seriously asked me to come back for work. Gave their contact information. Also met ortho, anesthesia and Gen surg. All told me the same thing. Some gave me their personal phone... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Credentialing Fee
I recently left a practice after 2.5 years for a better opportunity elsewhere. Although my contract with the previous employer states that they will pay for all credentialing and licensing fee without mentioning of pro rata upon termination. My state license was renewed a few months before my departure. The practice is now requesting me to pro-rata the license fee for the future period despite my separation from the practice. Is this legal? It seems so petty! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Got a contract? Get a lawyer.
For the new grads, or the seasoned docs changing jobs, get a lawyer to review your contracts AND represent you. Most jobs are boiler plate templates, but even then I've combed over one such boiler plate and found few errors. In conjunction with a lawyer better language was drafted, additions added and submitted back. Feedback was positive with intent to use on future contracts by their corporate lawyer. Other changes were begrudgingly obliged because it wasn't worth the effort to push back... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Negotiating call schedule in contract
I am about to sign my first job after fellowship and had a question about call frequency in the contract. I liked a job and I am in talks with the employer and am negotiating terms. They have 3 other physicians in the practice and I will be joining as the fourth. The employer says the contract would say that the call would be divided equally amongst the physicians, but they do not specify the call frequency as 1:4. They tell me that they have hired locums in the past when a physician has... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Advice
So this is kinda a weird thing. I have been accepted to 2 schools thus far. One with a contract seat and the other I haven’t been told is a contract seat. I got into my top choice choice but I am just grappling with the decision to go to this school. I love the curriculum and the school—at least what I’ve seen online as I haven’t been able to visit. I think I just need other opinions on if it is the right choice. It is just surreal to have 2 acceptances and I’m still waiting on if I get into... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Hi, I was hoping someone might be able to help me figure out the average net collections for an EP in the United States (it is part of the incentive pay for a contract I am looking at). If you could post a link to the data that would be amazing. Thank you so much! (Source: Student Doctor Network)
