Contract Non-Renewal
I am in a bit of a predicament. I completed my first year of residency. I was failed on 2 rotations. Despite passing the repeat rotation, my program director asked me to repeat my intern year. I complied and am in the process of repeating my intern year. I was failed on yet another rotation. They placed me in academic probation. I have gone through probation and feel as if I am going to be let go. I have not failed another rotation. I have passed all my rotations on probation. I feel like... Anesthesia/pain jobs in PP
Anyone work a private practice job where they do both anesthesia and pain? I realize it is rare, but if anyone does it I'd be interested to know where you work and what your setup/contract was like. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Contract renegotiation opinion/input
Working with a specialized psychotherapy practice on a 1099 basis. Currently getting admin assistance in screening and getting paperwork done for new clients, scheduling new appointments, and generation of some kinds of paperwork (ROIs etc). Got assistance with credentialling and they handle billing the one insurance I take. Doing prior auths myself. No benefits otherwise. Currently on a 70/30 split. I've posted revenue numbers before, but so far working three days a week generating revenue... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Cost for reading PET/CTs
Our group is looking at purchasing a PET/CT and I’m wondering a couple things: 1. Does NM read both the PET and CT portions of the imaging? 2. What is the ballpark cost (per study) to read a standard PET/CT if we were to contract with a NM group? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Locums questions
Hi All, I would appreciate any input from the group in regards to locum experiences and contacts. I recent found a position that fits me well through a locums group. However when I received the contract it spoke about if I get a take a permanent job with the company they get 25% of my first years salary including bonuses, this is also triggered if I take a job with in 15 miles of the location of the employer. I would not be concerned but this is a major city. Is this normal for locums and... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

MCAT retake?
Hi all - I am currently sitting on 3WL and planning my reap in case I need to do that. I applied MD this year with 3.63cGPA and 3.56sGPA and a 511 MCAT (126/130/127/128). Since my first application, I have added 350 hours paid EMT work and 2000 hours of paid research. Starting in July when my job contract ends, I plan to start working a clinical job part time and spending the rest of my time volunteering in my community. Due to my mediocre stats, I am debating an MCAT retake. When I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

WAMC Interesting Story
I was curious about my changes at T20 or perhaps any allopathic med school. Hard Stats: Valedictorian/Salutatorian at HYPSM (shared) 521 MCAT Varsity athlete for freshman sophomore (not a “big time” sport but rather on the preppier side. Don’t know if this will have any effect) Graduated in 2018 and have been working as a middling programmer at various contract gigs since then. Solid ECs, letters I am guessing are also solid. Fluent in Spanish, Italian, Ancient Greek (reading/writing)... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

VA contract
For those of you with VA positions, how long did it take to get a contract? How long was it before your start date? I got offered a position back in February and I'm supposed to start August 2nd. I still haven't gotten a contract or heard anything from credentialing. HR has everything they need. I'm currently on internship that ends July 16, so it isn't a huge deal, but super anxiety provoking nonetheless. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Help regarding practice aquisition
Hi everyone, I'm about a year into my first post-residency private practice job. I've really enjoyed my first year of work as an employed/non-partner track comprehensive ophthalmologist. Unfortunately, my boss/owner is selling the practice, probably as an asset sale, but maybe as an equity sale. I like some of the potential buyers, but not all of them. My question is: what is the likelihood that my contract will require me to stay on with the new owner, if this is an asset sale? I have a... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

malpractice, tail, and working in multiple states
Hi, all--Question about malpractice, tail coverage, and working in multiple states (that you are licensed in). Here's my situation. Looking at a contract, have not signed. Says they don't provide tail. I protest, director comes up with a % of tail they will cover, will cover 100% if I stay for 2 years. Ok, don't love it, but my question is not about whether I should love this. Job entails work in state A, which is my primary state and where I am licensed. Job also entails some tele work in... Licensure Question: Can I count hours training a private practice?
Hi Folks, I'm a 3rd year counseling psych PhD student in Massachusetts. I have completed my prac and advanced prac at official training sites. I have an opportunity to train with an excellent psychologist in private practice. Am I able to count *private practice* training hours towards licensure? He is able to have a formal relationship w/me w/a contract, supervise me 2 hrs/wk per 16hrs of training, and make me an unpaid employee (all of which meet MA licensure requirements). The licensure... Thoughts on stamps?
Hi all, I'm finishing up residency and have signed a contract to begin work as an attending at an inpatient psych unit. Overall, I'm quite excited. I wanted to ask -- I was thinking about making a stamp with my name and relevant numbers, for the convenience. Firstly, is it even necessary to have a name, NPI number, DEA, etc. in the form of a stamp? If so, do I put my DEA # in there? I was thinking something like: Name NPI # License # DEA # (don't know if I should put this or not) Thoughts... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
