WL Dilemma
I'm on the WL for my top school right now, but as a non-trad with a family, rushing around to move 14+ hours away a week or two before classes start is really not fair to put them through. We essentially have to buy a house with our family circumstances so it would also be kind of nuts to put that mostly on my husband to handle while I'm trying to get ready for med school. I'm also starting a new work opportunity with a 1 year contract attached in July, assuming I don't hear back by then. I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

NRMP Violation Consequences
Hey everyone, I'm looking to gather some collective wisdom on how the NRMP handles violation cases, especially from those who've had first-hand experience or knowledge of the process. Has anyone here been through a situation where they were involved in a violation report with the NRMP? Whether it was a personal experience or something you've witnessed, I'm curious about what happens after the dust settles. For those not honoring contracts, does the NRMP follow through on barring... Non Compete by Academia?
Does anyone know if academic places like UIC or UChicago have non compete radius clauses in their contract? Is it like 5 miles or worse? Some current or former professors at UIC have a clue? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What would you do before you left a practice? Proactive steps.
Hey y’all , Looks like I’ll be leaving my current setup. What do y’all suggest I do before I leave so I can hit the ground running for my next practice? For example, copy all dot phrases and op notes, ask about malpractice for the next employer, copy my common orders, re-read the contract so I’m not breaking anything, get letters of recommendations, etc. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

OMS joining military post-residency?
I am wondering how operationally thing would work joining military post residency. I know of several guys who joined military during OMS residency and they received stipends with future contracts to work with the military after for a number of years towards repayment of their dental school loans. However, let's say you've completed residency and been out several years. You've tried various gigs in the private sector and stumbled upon the Army looking for an OMS in the AAOMS job listings... New Job Offer, low % production being justified with high fees
Hello, I have been offered a job with a group that does very some niche dentistry with special needs patients, they also see very "healthy, wealthy" patients as well. The job will include non-service work to help market and grow the group. The job can also be very physically demanding (beyond typical private practice) as some patients are limited in changing positions, so it can be a lot of standing for hours or having to hunch over. The contract offer is : Independent contractor... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Hourly W2 vs 1099 when interviewing
For the upcoming grads interviewing or just working their first job: Who knows their true hourly rate W2 when working days, past 5pm, or on standby? Who gets quoted 1099 fake “salaries”? Explained the exact number of call hours and backup committed by contract? Point it out and have them give you a spreadsheet with breakdown of a real take home compensation package for hours committed. And that’s on the contract. Compare apples to apples. Not old school nebulous salaries and just here to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

So I’m a categorical PGY-1 who recently reapplied through the match and matched into a different specialty without approval or a letter from my PD. I plan to finish out the year and then resign. I have not signed a contract for a PGY-2 year with my original program. I get I should of told my PD from the start I was not happy and wanted to switch specialties. I am having a meeting with my PD this week. I was just curious if there’s anything my PD could do to block me from going to my new program? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Another GMO and GTFO Thread
Gentlemen, Some background: Army, HPSPer, 2021 med grad, didn't make it into my desired specialty, TY'd, GMO'd Long time since I've posted, been a wild ride. I did my Transitional Year internship, became a flight surgeon and have had some amazing experiences, but ultimately I do not plan on being a lifer. Welp matched into residency this year and its time for me to sign the contract for my Active Duty Service Obligation (ADSO) that I will receive for residency training. My timeline, or so... Calling out contract/agreement issues and questions
PGY4 here about to graduate and enter the work force. Google is failing me and I feel like some things my potential employers are saying may not be true. Could you help me fact check? 1) Is it true that while I’m board eligible, awaiting the results from my psychiatry board exam, that some commercial insurances might not reimburse properly? They want me to do salary my first year to be “safe” because of this and recommending I not pick their fee for service model, which pays way more. Is... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
