Help with contract specifics
2 year base of 250k. wRVU after than, but it looks like they have a "total allowable payment" of 75%ile of your specialty.. they decided that would be 315k for FM. non-compete that is 1 year and 10 miles of your office location. giant medical group with a million offices but plenty of large-ish private practices in the area. questions: is it insane that they cap your pay at 315k? if I sign a non-compete, is it enforceable? like what happens if I leave and join another practice down the road... Does anyone round Nursing Homes/ALFs/SNFS/ etc?
I have been in solo private practice for about a year now while my patient load has filled up. I am about to disperse about 40% of my patients to my first employee to take over so It's going to give me some more time to do other things. I was thinking of getting out of the office a few days and seeing if I can get some contracts with nursing homes. Is it the same codes? 99205/90792, 99214+90833 or does nursing home rounding carry an additional code? I am not in network with Medicare... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

90 Day Notice … or Else?
Hey all! Hope everyone has been having a good new year! My contract states that I have to give a 90 day notice.. but how necessary is that, really? My contract doesn’t indicate any possible ramifications if I were to give less than that. Any ideas what they could do, if anything? I work in an at-will employment state. Independent contractor rights
So I’m considering a 1099 telehealth position in a clinic, in the contract it says that I have to give 120 days notice if I want to quit, I have to give 60 days notice for vacations, they have a predetermined schedule for me (9-5), but I think it’s annoying that I have to give so much notice for vacations and that I have to stay there 120 days if I find it’s not a good fit. Is that allowed? I thought that as a 1099 I can quit and take vacation as I please? Am I mistaken? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Contract "catches" for big companies: NVA, VCA, BluePearl
Howdy everyone. I was wondering if anyone worked for or had some friends who could provide some info that I can't figure out. If you have or currently work at one of these places and are comfortable sharing about your contract I would love to here it. Or if anyone knows about it through the grapevine. I am most curious about NVA & VCA. I do not want to waste time 4th year externing or looking at these places if these contract elements are standardized everywhere. Additionally I mean no... U.S. Moves to Bar Noncompete Agreements in Labor Contracts
It's about time! It's impossible to find a rad onc job in my state without a large area and long-time non-compete. If you never get a pay raise or get abused in your position, you're essentially forced to move a long distance out of the area. Finally we're making progress to end this anti-competitive practice that only hurts employed physicians. U.S. Moves to Bar Noncompete Agreements in Labor Contracts A sweeping proposal by the Federal Trade Commission would block companies from limiting their employees’ ability to work for a rival. ...

ASC and young ophthalmologists
Listened to a great podcast episode on Ophthalmology off the Grid this morning regarding ASC ownership. Was wondering if any experienced ophthalmologists can shed light on contract negotiation strategies for graduating residents or fellows. If the candidate is interested in partnership, ASC, real estate, etc. is it good to communicate that upfront with the understanding it is contingent upon satisfactory performance? For those of you who are owners, how does that style of communication... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Advice on first job offer
Hi Everyone, I am currently a D4 and recently got my first job offer. I am sure if it is a good one or not. I also am not sure if I should counter offer. The general offer was a 3 year contract for: 27% adjusted production 30 hrs per week No lab fees He recognized the adjusted production percentage was on the lower end but said that I would also make 27% on radiographs from hygiene and exams to compensate. I feel like this offer is a little unique from what I have heard... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Any consequences for not completing credentialling?
Started the process with Sound physicians for a per diem gig, pay is decent for nights, 300/hr, however my motivation to complete allllll the BS paperwork is just not there. Just looking at the task list and required docs and yearly compliance training, acls recert, etc etc, im looking at 30+ hours of paperwork and “training.” For….a…..per….diem….job I may or may not even pick up many hours at. I have signed the contract but its contingent on getting credentialling done in a timely... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Outside perspective - job market
Hi all, random ophthalmologist here. As promised in the job postings thread, here are the differences in our markets which I find interesting. Absolutely nothing posted here is to brag on me or demean you, or vice versa. I post this, again, as an outside perspective because I think these are reasonable guidelines for initial contracts. For reference, I'm a private practice partner in a subspecialty practice. I think our market environment/psychology is more conducive to happy employment, so... MGMA wRVU Data Compensation
Will be doing some contract negotiation in the next few weeks, would like to have the latest data from MGMA on physician compensation. Specifically on compensation when it comes to mean/median wRVU. Bonus points if its region specific. Thanks in advance (would happily take 2020 or 2021 data). (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Medical Affairs Contract-Advice
Hey all, So I had a recruiter reach out to me about a contract in medical affairs. The company is a large, stable German company that supports many products. I decided to do the interview because I’d eventually like to move into this space. I got my red flag during the interview. It seems the contract is to fill in for someone who is undergoing medical care. For now the contract is 6 months with possible extension to a year. Based on the reason for the contract, I don’t expect to get... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Breaching Dental Residency non-match contract
Hi I was wondering what the consequences are for pulling out of a non-match dental residency contract and entering the match? (Other than the non-match program being upset at you and your references/dental school) Would you be banned from the match? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
