UGA vs. Mississippi State- both IS
I recently received acceptance for a SC contract seat to both Mississippi State and University of Georgia. I would be paying in-state tuition for both, but UGA is slightly more affordable. I believe IS at Mississippi is ~$29k yearly with 8 semesters today, while UGA is ~$19.8k yearly with 9 semesters total. That's ~$25k less in total for all 4 years at UGA if I am doing the math correctly. I love the idea of 2 years of clinicals at Mississippi, but I know UGA is changing their curriculum for... How soon can you leave a new job without burning professional bridges
As the title states. I just started a new job at a local AMC and quickly realized it was not what I anticipated. The contract states I have to give 2 month's notice, which I am fine with. My question is, how soon can I give the 2-month notice without burning professional bridges? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Cash pay for medicaid patients who's injections are denied
Does anyone know if it is a breach of your medicaid contract to offer patients a cash pay option for an injection such as a LESI or TFESI if medicaid denies the prior-authorization? For example, I just had Meridian deny a 2 level TFESI on a patient because he had a prior epidural done 8 months ago by a different doctor that didn't help. I offered the patient the option to pay cash for the injection ($300) and bypass insurance and they agreed. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Whats your approach to controlled substances?
When is comes to Testosterone, sleep (zolpidem/lunesta/etc), anxiety (BDZ), ADHD meds, opioids... Do you prescribe these? If no, why? Do you see these patients every 3 months/6 months/annually prior to continuing refilling these meds? Require specialist check in annually (ie. Psych with ADHD)? Do you have a contract with all or just specific drugs? And any other information you wanna share Just curious what other providers' routine is when it comes to these meds. Thanks. TeamHealth Contract Negotiations and Revisions
I’m having to transition from my current employment going to TeamHealth. In doing so, I have received their contract and have been reading through it. I’d appreciate any guidance and advice regarding contract revisions or changes when it comes to TeamHealth specifically. Is it a take or leave type of situation or is there wiggle room? If so, what should be changed? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

USAP Austin and Colorado-USAP decline begins?
Austin working pre call, post call, can’t get CRNAs or new MDs as horrible job. Cost of living California level not helping Colorado-word is USAP has lost multiple contracts not just St Joes Pipeline for USAP has dried up…no new groups joining. Restrictions now on internal stock sales. I thought USAP would be last amc standing, and I realize every usap location different-but if you don’t or can’t pay your mds and CRNAs and put returns to private equity first……. RVU math.. am i doing this right ?
looking for my first job at the moment and i've been trying to make sure i dont end up getting suckered into a contract i dont fully understand. I will be interviewing at an academic facility in a major metropolitan area for an outpatient position with a mix of dual diagnosis patients. Pay for first 2 years is a gaurenteed base, however it then turns into pure RVU based system. So I want to be able to guage what my estimated salary would be once it turns to that. so my understanding is... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Pathlink
A hospital in a nearby town ended their contract with a group of two pathologists who retired. They now are using something called pathlink to manage pathology staffing. Any idea what this is or what kind of reputation they have? Thanks in advance. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What are the repercussions of breaking the Match contract?
Hi everyone, I have recently not matched into my specialty of choice. I have received many interview invites for GPRs/AEGDs, some of which need a response in the next few days. There is one program that I want to say yes to (and kinda have to say yes to given my circumstances). However, some post-match specialty programs are now reaching out to me for interviews. In the case that I say yes to this program, but get accepted to a specialty program down the line, what are the repercussions of... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

FTC Seeks to Bar Noncompetes in Labor Contracts
Thought I would share share this link to a NYT article through Doximity. Perhaps something we’ve gotten used to accept. And there are many others areas where we need to be better at advocacy and lobbying. Article link: U.S. Moves to Bar Noncompete Agreements in Labor Contracts A sweeping proposal by the Federal Trade Commission would block companies from limiting their employees’ ability to work for a rival. www.doximity.com Here’s the link if you would like to comment: Regu...

Experience with Pay Structure- Percentage of Collection
So, there is some turbulence in my practice currently and my employer, who I feel is being dishonest, is telling me he wants to renegotiate my contract. I am currently paid 500k with 5k quarterly bonuses plus benefits. I do approximately 12k RVU per year by myself and around 15k with the help of 2 midlevels. He is telling me that he wants to transition me to a 100% productivity based pay where I would be getting paid based on percentage of my collections. He hasnt told me what percentage... How much time between a contract and agreeing to sign?
Typically, after being offered a contract, how much time do employers give you to decide? Current fellow. I just got my first PP offer. I like many things about, but there is another spot that I have a good feeling about (hospital gig actually) that I want to give a fair chance. The problem is that my interview is 4 weeks away. I haven't asked the PP gig how much time they need. So, I just wanted to poll the audience here or see if anyone has any suggestions. My only thought right now is to... Exempla St. Joseph's in Denver / USAP
Got a call from staffing recruiter looking for locums to fill positions at Intermountain Healthcare's St. Joseph hospital in Denver beginning March 2023. It's a recruiter giving details, so take the information with a 'grain of salt.' Was told, USAP lost the contract, hospital is bringing anesthesiology in house with docs being employed by Intermountain (or maybe Colorado Permanente), there will be no midlevels to supervise (got the impression midlevels are going away), and the contact is...
