Working nights as a hospitalist
Is it possible to negotiate a contract as a hospitalist where you don't have to work any night shifts? I'm willing to work evenings and weekends. I have a health issue where I have trouble inverting my sleep cycle. And how does this differ between academics and private practice? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Hourly rates in 2024
For those that are paid hourly (or for shifts of designated length) what rates are you currently getting? I'm Anes/CC, and my group gets a stipend per 12hr shift that was negotiated five years ago. The full-time CC guys here are similarly working on the same contract rate for 12hrs they've had since at least 2017. Many of us are disgruntled, with several having left over the past few years. Without getting into the other details of vacation, census, staffing models, etc, what is just the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Applying for state license question
I’m thinking about moving to be closer to my family in the near future so I’m looking into applying for that states license. One part of the application wants me to reach out to my previous jobs and have them sign a form saying when I worked for them I didn’t have any issues/lawsuits/complaints, which I didn’t. However my first job was a classic associate job where I made a residents salary (signed a terrible bonus filled contract) and when I left after 2 years the boss was just upset... Collections contract review - new attending
Soon to be newly graduating pain fellow starting contract review. In regards to collections models, what makes a good contract? What percentage of collections should I be taking home? In todays market, what would a fair collections threshold number be for a 350k base? 400k base? Is a graded collections better or a a percentage of straight collections better? I am looking to be a FTE and be fairly productive. PP has existing referral sources. Looking at midwest PP groups. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Backing out of signed employment contract
May be having a change of heart 4 months later and I don't see it it in the contract far but if I signed an employee contract through a big hospital system would I be able to back out without any legal repercussion? Recruiters used were internal through the hospital system. No sign on bonuses received until first paycheck. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Getting rescinded by employer?
Hi everyone, I am a current medical student. My partner is applying this cycle and was accepted to a medical school. They have been working at a super toxic clinic (run by a physician who is faculty at a different medical school) over the past gap year and put in a one month notice to quit (plans to quit within the next month), although when they initially started the job they were supposed to work right up until their new school started. The job contract they signed said that the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

HCA hospitalist
I've heard the horror stories, but what's the truth about working for an HCA hospital as a hospitalist these days? What if it's through a staffing agency rather than HCA itself? The contract looks good and the patient load is OK from what I have been told. Any help would be appreciated. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Question about Connecticut Applicants
Hi all! I am President of the Pre-Vet Society at my college and I have a question. I have a freshman who would be applying as a Connecticut resident in a couple years. Are there any contract seats or similar opportunities for Connecticut applicants? If you are applying as a Connecticut resident, what did you do? What was the process like? I am having trouble finding any resources online. Thanks in advance! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

About to sign my first attending contract; what are things I need to absolutely be sure are included in it?
About to sign my first contract to be a hospitalist. It’s with a large well known medical group. There are things that I know must be included in the contract, or that I need to be aware of. For instance, I know that tail coverage needs to be included in the malpractice insurance that is included in the contract. What other things are important to know in your contract and/or are things that I must have in there? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Supervising NP- does it normally take this long?
I signed a contract last year with a company that is affiliated with one of the places that I work to supervise a nurse practicitoner. I knew they had not yet hired one and I would be involved in the hiring process. This was last July. I interviewed one candidate who made it to the “final interview”, but they never told me what happened with her and I guess it didn’t work out. I am now getting emails to interview 3 new candidates, one of which her bio says won’t be credentialed fully until... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Travel Reimbursement After Interviewing for Job
I had interviewed for a group practice back in August. I had booked my hotel and flights to travel across the country. They stated they would reimburse my expenses and I had filled out a W2 form for them after the interview. They told me they will process it and reimburse me as soon as possible. I was offered a contract but respectfully declined to pursue other options. They still had not reimburse me so I reached back out. They told me the reimbursement request was submitted to their... DSO offer letter sign on bonus
I signed this “offer letter” with a DSO before they started designing my contract. It included mention of a sign on bonus. But, they messed up the wording and it says “in the 2 years” instead of “in the first 2 years.” It also clearly says it is a non-binding agreement… the sign on bonus pay back details were not included in my actual contact. Would I have to pay the sign on back if I left before 2 years was up? And would I have to pay back if fired? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Contract review lawyer suggestion
Hey everyone. Is anyone here familiar with contract lawyers in Chicago? I'm in the process of exploring options for my contract review and was considering either Contract Diagnostic or Contract Rx from White Coat Investor. Before making a decision, I wanted to reach out here and see if anyone has recommendations for a reliable contract lawyer in Chicago. Personal experiences or any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks (Source: Student Doctor Network)
