1st Contract wants/what else should I ask for?
Hey all, I have looked through posts with similar themes so I don't want people to feel they need to rehash things have discussed multiple times. I am in my final year and am likely going to be signing a contract with a private practice and wanted to get a feel for navigating contract. I am planning to be pretty aggressive in my requests with the contract. I'm walking in with the mindset that, I know if I don't get what I want I can always go to a tele psych job and make plenty while I'm... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

contract- APP revenue percentage
Hello everyone, I am a pain physician practicing in California, currently working for a private group. In process of renegotiating my contract. Initial term was 50:50 for collections for physician provided services. I supervise PA/NP and they see a big chunk of my patients, but I don't get any revenue back right now , but I will be negotiating soon. What would be a fair percentage should I ask for mid-level providers revenue? Note, I don't get any percentage of ancillary services... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Please, help me understand this job offer ’s proposed wRVU compensation model. An abomination?
I have never worked in a wRVU compensation model. I’m a newbie to this stuff. Despite my inexperience with these payment models, I received a job offer recently that came with this wRVU system. The offer first had me bewildered and confused. Then as I learned more on my own, I began to feel insulted which quickly became angered, and at last left me feeling disgusted and disrespected. I did my research, spending 6 hours straight upon receiving the contract to review, learning as much as I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is PsyPact really worth it?
I just submitted my application for PsyPact. I probably should have asked this question prior to spending $440, but is PsyPact worth it? I am doing it as I will be sub-contract my PLLC with another LLC to do remote police evaluations. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

NYU terminates prominent organic chemistry professor over student grievances about course difficulty
At N.Y.U., Students Were Failing Organic Chemistry. Who Was to Blame? Maitland Jones Jr., a respected professor, defended his standards. But students started a petition, and the university dismissed him. www.nytimes.com After retiring from Princeton in 2007, he taught organic chemistry at N.Y.U. on a series of yearly contracts. About a decade ago, he said in an interview, he noticed a loss of focus among the students, even as more of them enrolled in his class, hoping to pursue medical careers. Job search etiquette
Navigating the job search for the first time as a new grad What's the etiquette regarding number of interviews/contracts/recruiters to pursue? Should I get multiple contracts in hand and compare them? Talk to multiple recruiters at the same time? At the moment I have 3 job site interviews lined up for the next few weeks. Is this a no-no? I feel dirty. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

PP Questions
Hi all, I had a few other questions about negotiating for a small PP group. Currently there are only two docs in the group who are ortho, but they are potentially planning on merging with another ortho group that would include ortho spine. 1) They have multiple times said they want me to become a partner after two years. Should this be put into writing in the contract and if so, are there usually metrics that are outlined? How should it be worded such that it is fair for me and them? 2)... Acute Pain Service $/RVU?
Hi, Does anyone know where can I find data on this? My hospital approached me to start an acute pain service, as an independent contractor outside of the anesthesia practice. I will have to carry my own malpractice and do it through my own LLC and it would be productivity type of contract. How do I find out what is an appropriate $/ rvu amount for acute pain service, and some nerve blocks if indicated - both US guided and if needed fluoro guided (im pain fellowship trained). Thank you (Source: Student Doctor Network)

J1 Waiver Gastroenterology Jobs
I’m a Canadian on a J1 visa in my second year of GI fellowship training. I’ve started browsing for jobs but I’ve quickly realized it’s quite overwhelming if you don’t exactly know what you’re looking for. Any tips or suggestions would be helpful. Anyone know any companies that can assist j1 individuals with their job search? I know my friends had used resolve.com a couple of years ago, but looks like they only review contracts now. How important is a deployment?
Currently a line medic in the Army National Guard. My contract ends right when my unit is slated for deployment to the middle east. I have the option to reup which would grant me veteran status and to an extent patient care experience if I go. I was hoping a deployment would add some spice when I apply, since my GPA is mediocre. In all honesty, I'm getting older and family dynamics caused me to rethink my position. For some background: I'm a non-trad and did my undergrad in finance. Still... Practicing in rural location - SCS trial and refer out for implant?
I might be signing a contract for a rural practice. I would be able to do SCS trials, but would not be able to put in implants due to no ASC/OR. Is it possible to just do trials on my own in the clinic and refer out for the implant to a larger city 2 hours away? Thanks for any input (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Inpatient negotiation penny for your thoughts
My hospital inpatient unit is hemorrhaging providers left and right, to the point we'll likely have to contract the service line down to inpatient unit only, and no med consults or ED coverage. We are located in an area that has proved very challenging to recruit psychiatrists, rural ish, uber conservative politically, schools aren't that great, but good outdoor recreation activities. Does anyone have experience with this scenario, where it feels like the docs have a lot of leverage to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Made mistake in taking job
I am starting a new FM with OB job including cesarean sections after the new year. I did a fellowship and have been doing locums not involving OB since finishing. I am terrified of doing OB. I am in a contract for this job and bought a house. I don’t feel ready to do surgery or OB in general. I think I’ve made a horrible mistake taking this job. Not sure what to do.
